This is super exciting news! I didn’t expect Papa Roach to be collaborating on a track for Devil May Cry, definitely a unique match for the series' vibe. I'm really curious to see how their style will mesh with the animated aesthetic of the show. The first season was such a wild ride, and I’m hoping the second season will carry that energy forward. What do you all think about this collaboration? Are you a fan of their music?

I noticed there's not much original songs, they just, you know, use songs from the early 2000s because Devil May Cry as a franchise started in early 2000s.

I grew up with Papa Roach, so seeing them attached to Devil May Cry is honestly funny in a good way. It sounds very 2004 but also modern at the same time. Devil May Cry was always extra with the action and attitude, so this kind of music feels correct for it. I checked out Hanumankind before because of his recent songs, and his style is intense enough to stand beside a rock band without sounding awkward. I think the biggest challenge is making sure the soundtrack does not overpower the actual scenes in the anime. Sometimes Netflix shows try too hard to look cool with music choices. But if they balance it properly, this could end up being one of the better anime game adaptations right now.

The funniest part is that Devil May Cry somehow keeps returning to early 2000s energy no matter how modern it gets. Every time I hear about the soundtrack, it sounds like somebody opened an old gaming magazine from the PS2 era and turned it into a Netflix show. Honestly, that is probably why people like it. Dante was never supposed to feel subtle or realistic. The man fights demons while acting like he is in a music video already. So a loud song called “See U in Hell” sounds exactly like something that belongs in this franchise. I just hope Season 2 gives Vergil more attention because the first season made people wait too much for him.

I listened to the song after reading this and the chorus is definitely the kind of thing people will spam in edits online. Netflix probably knows exactly what they are doing. I can already imagine fight clips of Dante with this playing over slow motion scenes. That combination of rap and hard rock is very fitting for Devil May Cry because the games themselves always mix different moods together. One second Dante is joking around and the next second somebody is getting stabbed dramatically. The soundtrack needs to keep up with that kind of energy shift.
