What Am I made for?
I’m really excited about "IS GOD IS"! Janelle Monáe is such a captivating performer, and I love that she’s taking on a leading role in a revenge thriller—it definitely has the potential to be intense and thought-provoking. The blend of horror and suspense with a story that reimagines a play sounds like a fresh approach.

I’ve always felt that revenge narratives can be tricky, though; they often tread a fine line between empowerment and glorifying violence. It'll be interesting to see how the film tackles these themes. Do you think it’ll lean more towards the horror aspects, or will it focus on the emotional depth of the characters?

I actually like how this story is not trying to make revenge look simple. The part about the twins having to decide between killing their father or healing feels very real to me. I have seen many revenge movies, but most of them just push violence as the only answer. Here, it looks like the emotional side matters just as much. I am also interested in how the sisters are different from each other. One is more aggressive and the other is quiet, so I think their conflict will be strong. The casting also looks solid. Janelle Monáe usually chooses roles that are not basic, so I expect her character to have layers. I am also curious about the father. If the movie really shows him as both a monster and a man, that could make the story more serious. I will probably watch this in theaters because it feels more thoughtful than usual revenge films.

The story sounds heavy, but I worry it might try to do too many things at once. It mixes revenge, family trauma, religion ideas, and also that Western style. Sometimes when a movie combines too many themes, it loses focus. I do like the idea of twin sisters with different personalities, but I hope they are written clearly and not confusing. The mother telling them to kill their father feels extreme, but maybe that is the point. I just hope the film explains her thinking well. The cast is strong, especially Sterling K. Brown, so that gives me some confidence. Still, I need to see how the tone works. If it becomes too dramatic without balance, it might feel tiring to watch.

I am honestly here because of Janelle Monáe. Every time she acts, she brings something different. The role of The New Wife sounds interesting because she is not just a side character. She represents the life that replaced the twins, and that can create a lot of tension. I want to see how she interacts with them. Also, the desert setting sounds like it will give a strong visual style. I like movies that use location to build mood. The revenge part is common, but the emotional conflict might make it stand out. I hope the dialogue is strong because this kind of story needs good writing to work. If they do it right, this could be one of those films people talk about for a long time.

This feels very dark, maybe even too dark for me. The idea of sisters being sent by their own mother to kill their father is heavy. I understand it is about trauma, but I hope the movie does not just stay in pain the whole time. I prefer when stories also show some kind of growth or change. The part about choosing healing gives me some hope, but I am not sure how much of that we will really see. I do think the acting will be strong. Vivica A. Fox as the mother sounds intense, especially with that “God” angle. I just need the story to have some balance, not only anger.

I like how the film seems to treat the sisters as complex people, not just victims. Racine being aggressive and Anaia being quiet creates a good contrast. It reminds me that people deal with trauma in different ways. I also think the journey across the country is a smart idea because it gives time to develop their characters. It is not just one location story. I am also curious about the New Wife. She could be written as a simple enemy, but I hope they give her her own perspective. That would make the story more realistic. Overall, I think this has potential if the writing stays focused.

I feel like this movie will depend a lot on pacing. The story sounds good, but if it moves too slow, people might lose interest. At the same time, if it goes too fast, the emotional parts will not feel real. So the director has to balance that. I am interested in the father character. If he is only shown as evil, then the story becomes simple. But if they show some change in him, then the situation becomes harder for the sisters. That is what I want to see. Also, the idea of the mother being both human and almost like a god figure is interesting, but it needs to be clear.
