Her dog Anton is still following her around, but, you know, doesn't get her jacket anymore. I actually like her new design. Her classic design can stay on King of Fighters, so we can have two kinds of Mary. In King of Fighters, we will have the classic blue Mary, while in Fatal Fury, City of Wolves, we will have the more mature, more experienced Mary.

I am honestly more interested in her fighting style than anything else. Blue Mary was always a character that required some skill because of her grappling focus. Not everyone can play her well, and I like that. It separates experienced players from casual ones. The update looks like it keeps that identity. I hope they do not simplify her too much just to make her easier. The design change is okay but not something I care about deeply. What matters to me is how she feels in gameplay. The English voice acting is a nice addition, but I usually play with Japanese audio, so it will not affect me much. Still, it is good for accessibility. Her relationship with Kevin Ryan being normal and not awkward is also something I appreciate. Fighting games sometimes overcomplicate simple character dynamics. This feels more grounded and easier to accept.

I just want to say I really appreciate what SNK did with Kevin and Mary here. It feels rare now to see cousins in games act like normal family without anything strange added to it. In a lot of Japanese media, cousin relationships are written in a romantic way, and honestly I am tired of seeing that again and again. It starts to feel forced and unnecessary.

That is why this decision stands out to me. Kevin and Mary feel like real relatives who trust each other and support each other. Nothing awkward, nothing confusing. Just simple and clear. It actually makes their bond stronger in my opinion because it feels believable.

After the situation people talked about in Street Fighter 6 with Alex, I think many fans wanted something more grounded. This is a good example of how to do it right. I respect SNK for keeping it clean and normal. It makes the characters easier to like and take seriously.

That English voice is actually really good. Allegra Clark nailed it. She sounds tough but not over the top, and it matches the Japanese one perfectly. First time hearing Blue Mary talk English in a Fatal Fury game and it doesn’t feel forced at all. The Terry sparring bits were funny too. He just stands there taking hits like always. Classic. Outfit change works for me—keeps the jacket, loses the dog catch gimmick. More serious vibe now. I’m sold.

The new haircut actually makes her look way closer to Cynthia Rothrock, which is kind of exciting for me as a fan of old martial arts movies. I never realized how much those old kung fu films influenced fighters in video games until now. Her outfit update is subtle but nice because it keeps her iconic look without feeling too flashy. I also like that they highlight her bond with Kevin Ryan instead of doing some awkward romance plot—they made it feel real and grounded, which is rare in fighting games. I plan to main her as soon as the DLC drops because Sambo isn’t as common, and it looks like her grappling and throws will really let me use skill instead of luck.

Okay but can we talk about how SNK just casually fixed what everyone complained about? Blue Mary was basically abandoned in the main timeline and now she’s Season 2 DLC like it’s no big deal. The grappling still looks brutal. Those animations are crisp. And thank god they didn’t turn her and Kevin into another forced couple. It’s just normal friendship. Refreshing. Design update is solid too. She feels modern without losing what made her cool. Hyped.

I really like that SNK is bringing her back into the main Fatal Fury story. It’s nice when characters don’t just appear in spin-offs or other universes but actually feel like they belong. The grappling and Sambo mechanics make her unique in a crowded roster, and it’s good to see a technical fighter being highlighted instead of just flashy combos. I think keeping her jacket on is a small design choice that makes her feel grounded, and the nod to her real-life inspiration is cool for longtime fans.

The trailer got me way more hyped than I thought it would. Blue Mary always had a cool, confident vibe, and the new look plus her Sambo style seems like a perfect fit for modern fighting games. I also like that the interactions with other characters feel natural instead of forced. The sibling-like bond with Kevin Ryan is refreshing because fighting games often mess up these relationships. I’m curious about how her grappling mechanics will feel in competitive play, and I’m definitely trying to learn her combos early.

I’m not even mad about the shorter haircut. It suits her. Makes her look more like the tough private eye she’s supposed to be. Trailer showed off some new moves I think? Or at least better versions of the old ones. Sambo is still king for close range punish. Terry getting bodied again never gets old. English dub surprised me in a good way. Clark sounds natural. This is gonna be a fun addition. Been too long.
