Billie Eilish Grammy win over KPop Demon Hunters still hurts my soul. That song she got it for? Gone from my memory already. Meanwhile Demon Hunters soundtrack is still playing everywhere – catchy, emotional, fits the story perfectly. Annie Awards didn’t hesitate, handed them Best Feature Music and Best Song without question. Animation music gets ignored too much, but this sweep shows real judges know quality when they hear it. Grammys fumbled hard this time.

Common Side Effects sweeping the adult TV categories makes me happy. That show is hilarious and smart, the pilot episode writing and editing wins are deserved. Dan Mintz as Tina Belcher is always funny, but Arden Cho as Rumi really gave the film an emotional depth. I’m happy that other winners like Common Side Effects and Olipop Yeti got recognition because they bring variety. It’s refreshing to see the industry celebrate all parts of animation, not just the flashy films.
