[Daredevil2000]

Ludwig Göransson just keeps winning everything lately. Sinners taking both the big film score and the dramatic song feels right—he’s on another level with those moody strings and beats. I was pulling for Jonny Greenwood though, One Battle After Another had that creepy tension I love. Still happy for Train Dreams getting the indie love, Bryce Dessner always brings something special to smaller films. Severance S2 winning TV score makes total sense, that show lives on its atmosphere. Overall solid list, even if the comedy song category still confuses me. Kpop Demon Hunters winning “Golden” is hilarious. At least video games got some respect with Sword of the Sea. Nice to see Austin Wintory recognized again

Finally someone gives Train Dreams the flowers it deserves. Bryce Dessner crushed it. That score feels so lonely and wide open, perfect for the story. I’m glad indie films aren’t just ignored this year. Sinners winning everything else is whatever—Hollywood loves its darlings. But Theodore Shapiro for Severance S2? Yes. That show’s music is half the reason I keep watching. The White Lotus title sequence win is whatever, it’s fine but not groundbreaking. “I Lied to You” is cool, Raphael Saadiq always delivers. Ching-Shan Chang getting the emerging talent award is the best part though. She’s been putting in work quietly. Excited to hear more from her.

Sigh. Another year where big studio stuff dominates and indies get one token win. Train Dreams deserved it, sure, but the rest? Sinners sweep feels forced. Ludwig is talented, no doubt, but come on. Wicked getting shut out in songs stings—Stephen Schwartz wrote gold there. And “Golden” winning comedy song? Really? I watched Kpop Demon Hunters expecting laughs and got earworms instead. Sword of the Sea winning game score is the only part I’m genuinely happy about. Austin Wintory never misses. At least the lifetime awards went to legends like Ennio Morricone and Peggy Lee. That Hall of Fame bit actually made me smile. SCL tries, but it’s still mostly predictable.

Severance S2 winning TV score is straight facts—that synth work hits different. Theodore Shapiro understood the assignment. Sinners getting both film score and song is crazy, Ludwig and Raphael cooked. “I Lied to You” has been stuck in my head for weeks. Train Dreams win is cool too, never heard Bryce Dessner do something that raw before. Kpop Demon Hunters taking the comedy song is peak chaos and I’m here for it. “Golden” slaps. Video game category with Sword of the Sea is nice—finally some love for Austin Wintory outside Journey fans. Ching-Shan Chang as emerging talent? Let’s go, new blood. SCL actually cooked this year

I’m disappointed. Where is the love for Andor’s score? Brandon Roberts deserved way more than a nomination. That show’s music carries emotional weight like crazy. Sinners winning everything is boring—Hollywood back patting again. Train Dreams is the only surprise I like. Bryce Dessner earned it. The White Lotus title sequence win feels like a participation trophy. Cristóbal Tapia de Veer is good but that theme isn’t his best. At least “I Lied to You” won over the Ed Sheeran one. Sword of the Sea for games is solid. Austin Wintory always delivers beauty. Emerging talent to Ching-Shan Chang is promising. Lifetime awards are nice nods to real legends. Still, could’ve been bolder.

Okay but “Golden” winning best comedic song is sending me. Kpop Demon Hunters was ridiculous in the best way and that track is pure ear candy. I’m not even mad. Sinners cleaning up is whatever—Ludwig Göransson is unstoppable right now. “I Lied to You” is gorgeous though. Severance S2 score win makes me happy, Theodore Shapiro nailed the creepy corporate vibes. Train Dreams getting indie score is deserved, that one feels personal. White Lotus title sequence? Meh, it’s fine. Sword of the Sea for games is awesome—Austin Wintory just gets it. Ching-Shan Chang as emerging talent is exciting, hope she gets bigger projects soon. SCL list feels pretty balanced this time.

[Teenage Mutant Ninja Frog]

This is the first SCL list in years that actually excites me. Train Dreams win for indie is massive—Bryce Dessner brought something quiet and powerful. Sinners taking studio film and dramatic song is fair, Ludwig never half-asses anything. Severance S2 score? Perfect choice. That show lives in your head partly because of the music. “Golden” winning comedy song is hilarious and I love it. Kpop Demon Hunters was unhinged. Sword of the Sea for video games feels right—Austin Wintory makes scores you want to live inside. Ching-Shan Chang getting the Raksin award is the cherry on top. She’s been underrated forever. Even the lifetime stuff with Schwartz and Morricone hits. Good year

[Boogie]

Sinners winning everything is so predictable it hurts. Hollywood gonna Hollywood. Ludwig is great but give someone else a chance. Train Dreams getting indie score is the only part that feels earned—Bryce Dessner actually took risks. Severance S2 win is cool, Theodore Shapiro deserves it. White Lotus title sequence? Overrated. “I Lied to You” is nice but I preferred “Last Time (I Seen the Sun)” from the same film. “Golden” for comedy is whatever—animation songs always get weird categories. Sword of the Sea win for games is solid though. Austin Wintory makes magic. Ching-Shan Chang as emerging talent gives me hope for fresh voices. SCL still better than Oscars for music at least

[Mulan_Rouge]

Honestly, I’m just happy Ching-Shan Chang got the emerging talent award. Laws of Man score is subtle but sticks with you. She’s been grinding and finally gets noticed. Sinners winning big categories makes sense—Ludwig is everywhere right now. “I Lied to You” deserved the dramatic song win. Train Dreams for indie is great too, Bryce Dessner always surprises. Severance S2 score is perfect for that weird office hell vibe. Theodore Shapiro killed it. “Golden” winning comedy is random but fun—Kpop Demon Hunters soundtrack goes hard. Sword of the Sea for games is the best video game win in years. Austin Wintory deserves more flowers. Nice list overall.
