Wait, 1998 was the last time? I swear I saw it on TV way later than that. This article is messing up the dates big time. Anyway, MeTV doing this is smart. Their whole channel is built on old classics, so Oz fits perfect. October for Halloween block though? That's forced. The movie has witches and flying monkeys, sure, but it's not scary. It's more spring or family movie vibes. Still, I'll take it. Better than nothing after all these years.

I got my name because my mom loves this movie.

My whole childhood was built around waiting for Oz to pop up on CBS. No fast forward, no pause, just sit there and watch. Once it went to cable and random times, the excitement died. MeTV putting it back on broadcast is huge for people who don't pay for streaming or cable. October is odd choice, but whatever. As long as it's free over the air, I'm happy. Dorothy deserves her annual spot again.

This is the best news I've heard all week. I was one of those kids who only knew the movie because it came on once a year. After it stopped, I bought the DVD but it never felt the same. No commercials, no buildup, just instant play. MeTV airing it in October means a whole new generation gets that appointment viewing feeling. Even if it's not traditional spring time. Who cares about the date. It's back on broadcast. That's what matters. Can't wait to DVR it like old times.

I remember being scared of the Wicked Witch every single time it aired. Had to hide behind the couch. Now that I'm older, I appreciate how beautiful the movie is. Bringing it back to over-the-air after so long is nice. Kids these days mostly stream everything alone. This gives families a reason to sit together and watch. Even in October. Maybe it'll start a new tradition. Better late than never.

I didn’t realize it had been that long since it was on broadcast. I always assumed it was just like a regular classic movie that shows up whenever, but apparently not. I like that MeTV is doing it, even if the timing is odd. It feels weird to associate it with Halloween, but at least it gives families a chance to see it together again. Honestly, I think part of the charm was that it felt like a special event, something you planned to watch, and I miss that in the streaming era. It’s funny how media can make something feel smaller just by moving it to cable or digital channels. I hope this sparks some nostalgia for adults and maybe introduces the story to kids who’ve never seen it on TV before.

The WB part is such a detail I completely forgot about. I think a lot of people just remember it disappearing, not why. It makes sense that Warner Bros wanted to use it for their network. I never really followed TV contracts, but it’s interesting how business moves affect what families get to watch. I think airing it now gives it a sense of legitimacy, like reclaiming it for broadcast TV. I honestly might set a reminder to watch it, even though I’ve seen it a hundred times. Some movies just feel better when they’re shared on the big screen at home rather than on a tiny streaming window. This might even get me to introduce it to my younger cousins in a traditional way, which I think is kind of cool.

I laughed at the idea of it being in a Halloween block. That seems like such a random choice. But I guess the important part is that it’s back on over-the-air TV. I grew up with traditions like these, and it’s weird how fast they disappear. I remember seeing it every February, and it was like part of the rhythm of the year. Kids today might not understand that feeling, but I do. This kind of programming reminds me of simpler times, when watching TV wasn’t about choosing what to stream but actually following these shared cultural events. It feels good to have it return.
