Trigun Stargaze, the follow-up to Trigun Stampede, premieres in four days! And as a special, VERY generous promotion, Crunchroll is streaming the entirety of Trigun Stampede live RIGHT THIS VERY SECOND! We’re serious, scroll down and catch it while you still can. The remake of the famous 1998 anime premiered on January 7, 2023 in Japanese, with the dub version of each episode following two weeks later. What’s playing right now is the dub version, which stars the voices of Johnny Yong Boschas Vash (the only returning voice from the original’s dub), Sarah Roach (Fire Force) as Meryl Stryfe, Ben Bryant (My Hero Academia) as Roberto De Niro, Austin Tindle (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) as Millions Knives, Kristen McGuire (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) as Young Vash, Megan Shipman (SPY x FAMILY) as Young Knives and Emily Fajardo (WONDER EGG PRIORITY) as Rem Saverem. On the planet of No Man’s Land, there’s no gunslinger more dreaded than Vash the Stampede. The bounty on his head is tremendous. So when reporter Meryl Stryfe and her partner look into it, they’re perplexed to meet a nervous goofball who’s also a total pacifist. He is responsible for a lot of […]

I finally got around to watching the dub, and I have to say, Johnny Yong Bosch still fits Vash perfectly. The energy he brings is very different from the original Japanese voice, but it works. I didn’t expect to enjoy the younger versions of Vash and Knives as much as I did, but Kristen McGuire and Megan Shipman did a great job giving them personality without overdoing it. The pacing of Trigun Stampede is smooth too—episodes flow nicely, and the action scenes don’t feel rushed. I’m curious to see how Stargaze will handle the story now that all this setup is fresh in my head. Honestly, it’s nice to see a remake that respects the original while modernizing it, especially in animation quality. The stakes with Millions Knives are clear, and I’m excited to see if the show can balance action with Vash’s trademark pacifism. I’ll probably binge the last few episodes before Stargaze drops.

Watching the dub right now and honestly, Emily Fajardo as Rem Saverem is amazing. She has this calm but strong presence that makes the emotional scenes hit harder. I was worried the remake would mess up the emotional weight from the original Trigun, but so far it handles it really well. The tension between Vash and Millions Knives is also set up nicely without being rushed. I feel like they took the time to make the characters’ motivations clear, which is something I appreciate. I also enjoy the animation style—they made No Man’s Land feel alive instead of just a barren desert. I’m looking forward to Stargaze because the ending of Stampede leaves me with questions. I need to know what happens next, especially with how Knives might push Vash to his limits.

I binged Trigun Stampede over the weekend and I think the younger versions of the characters were a nice touch. It adds context to Vash and Knives’ relationship without slowing the story. I also appreciate that they didn’t just remake the old anime frame by frame. The story feels fresh but familiar, and the pacing is very digestible. The dub voices are good, but I think the action scenes really sell the show—the choreography is clear, and the stakes feel real. Vash’s pacifism makes the story different from other action anime because it actually affects how the battles play out. I’m curious how Stargaze will expand on that dynamic. I feel invested in the characters now, and the setup with Knives promises a lot of conflict ahead.
