To all those who wanted a Pratt-less Jurassic World, Universal is now making one. Jurassic World: Dominion is the title of a soft refresh for the series that still includes lots of people running from giant reptiles with teeth, but a new main protagonist in Scarlett Johansson’s Zora Bennett. You might think this whole narrative has written itself into a corner. They let the genie out of the bottle by allowing the dinosaurs to escape and literally make a Jurassic World, but that led to an anti-climax when it turned out the climate had just changed too much in 65 million years for them to survive. What’s left? Well, it turns out there’s an island where the dinosaurs survived. A…..Lost World, you might say. “Oh come on, it can’t literally be that same island” — watch the trailer and see for yourself. Everything old is new again. Also, on that island, there was apparently a holding pen for dinosaurs “too dangerous for the park” that somehow didn’t breach during the Dennis Nedry incident but has breached now. Don’t question it, just roll with it. You know what could potentially make all this feel a LITTLE bit fresh? A protagonist who […]

Fiero from Wicked and Black Widow from Avengers working together against Dinosaurs. What an Allstar cast,

I’ve been waiting for this! Scarlett Johansson leading a Jurassic World movie? That’s a brilliant move. We’ve had enough of the “scientist in over their head” type—Zora Bennett looks like she means business. If we’re getting a legit dinosaur hunter instead of another “run and scream” protagonist, I’m all in. I don’t even mind if they’re reusing the Lost World concept. The franchise has always leaned into nostalgia, and honestly, I just want to see giant dinosaurs causing chaos again.

Oh, great. Another Jurassic movie doubling down on outdated dinosaur designs. Look, I get that the franchise has its own “look,” but at what point do we stop spreading misinformation? We’ve known for years that many theropods had feathers, yet Universal refuses to adapt. Instead, we get the same scaly monsters because they look cooler to general audiences.
This isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about education. Millions of people watch these movies, and they walk away thinking dinosaurs were just giant reptiles when they were way more complex. I’m tired of hearing “But that’s not how they looked in Jurassic Park!” when discussing real discoveries. The franchise has a massive platform, yet it actively ignores scientific progress.

Cool to see Jonathan Bailey land major roles without having to hide who he is. For so long, Hollywood operated under this unspoken rule that openly gay actors couldn’t convincingly play straight characters, while straight actors were winning awards for playing gay roles. It always felt like a double standard—like queerness was something to be “performed” for prestige, but being openly gay was still seen as a risk. Bailey’s success proves that talent is what matters, not an actor’s personal life. He’s charismatic, skilled, and completely believable in any role he takes on. The industry is shifting, and it’s great to see actors getting opportunities based on their abilities rather than outdated biases.

People love to complain, but I think this sounds awesome. Every Jurassic movie has taken some liberties with logic—it’s a franchise about cloned dinosaurs, after all. If people can accept the ridiculousness of Fast & Furious, why nitpick this? I love that we’re getting a new lead, and I think this could be a fun ride.

Give me dinosaurs, big guns, and a badass lead, and I’m happy. Jurassic World needed to ditch the whole "theme park disaster" angle and fully embrace the monster movie potential. Scarlett Johansson as a fearless hunter? Yes, please. I don’t need it to make perfect sense—I just want to see her take down some prehistoric nightmares.
