Wicked has taken the world by storm, soaring to new heights with a staggering $382,799,270 in global box office earnings in just its second week. This astonishing feat not only surpasses its initial budget but also solidifies its position as a cultural phenomenon. As the film prepares to enchant audiences worldwide, its soundtrack continues to captivate listeners, topping charts and inspiring countless viral memes. Cynthia Erivo’s mesmerizing performance has catapulted her to stardom, while Ariana Grande’s Broadway-trained vocals have surprised and delighted fans alike. Despite facing initial hurdles, Wicked has defied expectations, proving that its magic extends far beyond the silver screen. Idina Menzel, the original Broadway Elphaba, previously recorded a pop version of “Defying Gravity” that also omitted the conversational elements. To avoid referencing Glinda, she utilized the “Wizard and I” version of the “Unlimited” segment. In contrast, Cynthia Erivo’s version completely removes the “Unlimited” verse, yet the song retains its power. While some fans may have preferred the inclusion of this iconic section, Erivo’s rendition demonstrates the song’s enduring strength, even in a more concise form. OMG! I'm so hyped for Wicked! Ariana and Cynthia killed it! Their voices are everything. Can't wait for Part Two! 🤩🎶 I'm still obsessed with "Popular" and "Defying Gravity."

I'm so glad they finally made this movie. It brought back so many memories of seeing the original Broadway show. It's a great way to introduce a new generation to this incredible story. This movie is a cultural phenomenon. It's got everything: amazing music, incredible performances, and a captivating story. I can't wait to see what they do with Part Two. It's going to be epic!

I think the edited version of "Defying Gravity" works surprisingly well. It retains the emotional core of the song while being more concise. However, I'm not a fan of the "Popular" edit. The full version is already radio-friendly and doesn't need to be shortened. Instead, they should have focused on editing longer songs like "Dancing Through Life" to make them more accessible for a wider audience.

The "Defying Gravity" edit is a nice compromise, but the "Popular" edit just seems unnecessary. The original version is catchy and fun, and it doesn't need to be shortened.

The "Defying Gravity" edit is a pleasant surprise. It's a shorter version that still manages to capture the essence of the song. However, the "Popular" edit is a bit of a letdown. The original version is already perfect for radio play, and the edit feels forced but I guess its for the tiktokers.

It's a bummer that they had to shorten "Defying Gravity" and "Popular" for radio play. But hey, that's just how it is. Radio stations have their rules, and they gotta stick to them. It's a shame, though, because the full versions are way better. Maybe they could've edited some of the longer songs instead, like "Dancing Through Life." Oh well, at least we can always listen to the full versions on streaming services.

I completely agree! The "Popular" edit is way too aggressive. They could have easily removed the dialogue sections to shorten the song without sacrificing its impact. It's a shame they went so far as to cut out entire verses. The original version is perfect for radio play, and this edit just feels unnecessary.
