I found Memories of the Sword to be an incredible watch, despite its flaws. The cinematography was breathtaking, especially those shots of the vast landscapes and close-ups during the sword fights. However, I agree with critics who said the plot was a bit hard to follow at times. The revenge theme resonated with me, but I feel like it could have been presented in a clearer way. Still, the performances by Lee Byung-Hun and Jeon Do-Yeon kept me hooked. A solid 7/10 from me!

The action scenes were absolutely on point, but the pacing felt sluggish, and I had a hard time connecting with the characters. Seol-Rang’s story was compelling, but Deok Gi’s motivations felt too rushed. It’s not a bad movie, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to recommend it unless someone’s a hardcore fan of the cast or the genre.

I stumbled upon Memories of the Sword while scrolling through Viki, and I’m so glad I gave it a chance. The historical setting and costumes were so well done, it really felt like stepping back in time. Yes, the plot got confusing in parts, but the emotion in the performances more than made up for it. I’d recommend this to anyone who loves period dramas with a twist of action.

I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it either. The fight choreography and martial arts were stellar, but I struggled with the love and betrayal storyline. It just didn’t feel as impactful as it could have been. Maybe I’ve been spoiled by other Korean period dramas with tighter scripts? This one didn’t quite hit the mark for me.

This movie is underrated! Sure, it has its flaws, but the emotional depth of Seol-Rang’s journey was so raw and moving. I didn’t even care about the “bewildering plot” because the performances carried it. Also, can we talk about Kim Go-Eun? She’s phenomenal in everything she does, and this was no exception!

Honestly, I found this movie a bit overrated. I get why people like it—the sword fighting scenes were amazing—but I couldn’t connect with the characters. The betrayal felt predictable, and the ending didn’t surprise me. Maybe I missed something, but this isn’t one I’d rewatch.

I loved the strong female leads in this movie! Seol-Rang and Seol-Hee’s bond felt so authentic, and it gave me chills during the final scenes. The cinematography was just beautiful, and even though the plot was a bit dense, I found it worth sticking with. This might just become one of my favorite period dramas.
