Turok 2, Shadow Man Unexpectedly Added To NSO

Considering we just got Banjo-Tooie, we weren’t expecting another update to the N64 section of Nintendo Switch Online so fast. But mere days later, the company deposited two games in the Mature 17+ section out of nowhere: Turok 2 and Shadow Man. Turok 2 is basically more of what you got from Turok 1, as you guide a Native American warrior through dangerous areas filled with prehistoric monsters. It was one of the first N64 releases to take advantage of the new Expansion Pak by offering a hi-res mode, but of course on NSO where everything is hi-res already that feature is useless. When an evil being called Primagen awakens in the Lost Land, it falls to Joshua Fireseed, the new Turok, to defeat him. In this first-person shooter, protect the five Energy Totems sealing Primagen’s power and complete missions as you journey through each world under the wisdom of your guide, Adon. As for Shadow Man, I have a friend who’s such a die-hard fan of this game he brings it up even when it’s NOT being re-released in some form. Mike LeRoi, professional assassin, has a relic implanted in his chest that turns him into the title character. […]

Turok 2 and Shadow Man on NSO? This is awesome! I've been wanting to replay these games for years. I'm excited to experience them again with modern controls. I'm especially looking forward to diving into Shadow Man's dark and twisted world.

I'm not sure how well these games will age. I remember playing Turok 2 and being impressed by the graphics at the time, but I'm not sure how they'll hold up today. I'll probably give them a try, but I'm not expecting too much.

It's interesting to see Nintendo adding more mature titles to NSO. These games were groundbreaking for their time, pushing the boundaries of what was possible on the N64. It's a great way to preserve gaming history and introduce new players to classic titles.

It's cool that Nintendo is adding more N64 games to the service. I'm not sure if I'll play Turok 2 or Shadow Man, but it's nice to have the option. Maybe I'll give them a try on a rainy day.
