Currently, the soccer anime Blue Lock consists of one season and a movie. That’ll change on Saturday when Crunchyroll premieres the first episode of Blue Lock 2nd Season in sub form. Based on the manga series of the same name by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura, Blue Lock follows a group of high school students who aim to reach the heights of the Japan’s Men’s National Team — but to do so they must ace the BLUE LOCK training program. The anime adaption debuted on Crunchyroll in October 2022; it was followed by Blue Lock The Movie – Episode Nagi- last June, which focused on one character (Nagi surprisingly). Since the movie told a side story, Blue Lock 2nd Season will begin where the first season left off. 35 players have now survived the elimination rounds, but they can still be knocked out of the team — in fact, the entire group could be eliminated if they can’t hold up against Japan’s very own U-20 National Team. And if various team members can’t put their personal grievances with each other aside, that dissolution could very well happen. I think Blue Lock has the potential to be a really popular anime. It's got a great story, interesting characters, and amazing animation. If the second season is as good as the first, I think it could the next great sports anime

I'm really impressed with how Blue Lock has managed to keep the momentum going after the movie. The first season was great, but the movie felt like a nice break. I'm excited to see how the story continues in Season 2 and if we'll get to see more of Nagi's backstory

I think Blue Lock is one of the best sports anime out there. It's got a unique premise and a great cast of characters. I'd compare it to shows like Haikyuu!! and Kuroko's Basketball, but with a more intense focus on individual competition.
