Historical Korean movies often slip under the radar because many of the streaming platforms put most of their promotional efforts toward K-drama series and don’t have many of the films in their database. So when you find an excellent historical film to watch, it’s like finding hidden treasure. I have yet to see one of these types of movies that doesn’t have powerhouse actors and actresses playing their roles as if they were actually in that place, at that time. “12.12: The Day” is a 2023 Korean film about events that took place December 1979 after the assassination of South Korea’s president. There was a fight over who would occupy the vacated seat of power. Military officers carried out a coup and one of their leaders formally assumed the presidency the next year. If you like war movies similar to “12.12: The Day”, here are three (3) more K-drama films that reference historical events, and tell the story of brave soldiers who fought for Korea’s freedom and independence. ♦ (1) 71: Into the Fire (2010) This film is based on a true story about 71 students. I'm a fan of war movies, so I'm definitely going to check these out. I'm particularly interested in "71: Into the Fire" because it's about a group of teenagers who volunteered to fight. That's amazing! I can't wait to see how they handle the pressure. However, I'm a bit worried that it might be too graphic for me.

I'm a fan of Korean historical dramas, so I'm definitely interested in watching these movies. I'm particularly interested in "The Battle of Jangsari" because it's about a group of student soldiers who were sent into battle. That's a really tragic story. I hope it's not too depressing. I also hope it's not too romanticized. I want to see a realistic portrayal of war

Who cares about these old war movies? They're so boring and irrelevant. I'd rather watch TikTok videos. Why would anyone waste their time on this trash? These movies are just propaganda for the South Korean government. They're trying to rewrite history to make their country look good.
They're too slow-paced and boring.

I'm excited to learn more about Korean history. However, I'm a bit worried that they might be too slow-paced. I prefer dramas with a faster pace and more action.

The real-life story is very tragic. In fact, I got disgusted thinking about what they did to those young men,.
