Another entertainment producer has laid out their full involvement in this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Skybound, the studio founded by The Walking Dead and Invincible creator Robert Kirkman, is huger than it’s ever been thanks to the multimedia success of both those creations. Skybound’s SDCC schedule is a little different from IDW’s or previous schedules we’ve posted here — their list includes not just panels and events they are hosting, but ones they are involved with (so it’s a big more inflated than usual). Highlights include the return of Spike and Mike’s Animation Festival AND its “Sick And Twisted” variation. Skybound bought the rights to the classic festival, a pioneer of late 20th century experimental animation back when the genre was in a slump and really needed it. Now as the industry faces another slump (but hopefully not), Spike and Mike’s is back to show you the wildest cartoon shorts out there. The family version happens on July 25 from 10 to 11 AM in Ballroom 20. The adult version

The Funko Fusion panel was a blast! Can't wait to play Michonne and Rick this fall. The giveaways were awesome too, snagged a sweet Invincible Funko Pop!

So bummed I missed the Spike & Mike's screenings! Those short film festivals are legendary. Anyone catch any wild stuff at the "Sick and Twisted" one?

Man, I wish I could have gone to Comic-Con this year! Sounds like Skybound had a lot of cool stuff going on. Maybe next year… sigh.

The Spike & Mike's Festival of Animation for families actually sounds perfect for my kids. They're obsessed with cartoons right now, and it would be awesome to take them to something like that. Hopefully, they'll have it again next year, and maybe I can snag some tickets early.

The "In Conversation with Robert Kirkman" panel also sounds interesting. My husband loves "The Walking Dead," and I've heard good things about "Invincible." It would have been cool for him to hear Kirkman talk about his work. Maybe they'll post a recording online somewhere?

. I tried to hit up the Skybound panels but the lines were crazy. Finally made it to the "Adapting Fan Favorites" one. It was cool hearing from the creators of shows I love, but I kinda wished they’d gone deeper into the creative process. Still, getting a sneak peek at the new Invincible season was worth the wait. I did manage to snag a limited edition Walking Dead comic though, so that was a win!

The Spike & Mike's festival was wild! I mean, some of that stuff was definitely not for everyone, but as an animation nerd, it was like Christmas. There were some seriously talented creators showcased. I'm still trying to process some of the imagery, haha. The family-friendly one was cute, but the adult version was where it was at.
