So many K-dramas. So little time. That’s my problem. I got addicted to Korean dramas almost 20 years ago. There are at least 4 Korean dramas that have been on my watch list for FOREVER! ♦ Why Certain Korean Dramas Are Still on My Watch List There are 4 Korean dramas (listed below) that keep getting pushed to the bottom because: The latest releases include actors and actresses from these old K-dramas and I’m excited to see their newest work. Right now I am watching several series that were just released in 2024. I have to watch them. I have to! Don’t you understand? LOL. Also, they started making soap opera-type Korean dramas with 100+ and those shows have episodes uploaded daily. The storylines get you hooked and before you know it, you can’t miss a day without watching the latest episode. Currently, there are 3 of these 100+ episode series that I must watch every day. I must! Thank goodness the episodes are usually short, like 30-40 minutes. ♦

I feel your K-drama struggle! "SKY Castle" looks really interesting with its focus on education and family pressure. The awards it has won make me think it’s a must-watch. I’ll bump it up on my list.

I've watched "SKY Castle" and found it gripping but also quite frustrating at times. The lengths those parents go to for their children's success are almost unbelievable. It really makes you think about the pressures of academic achievement in South Korea. "Legend of the Blue Sea" didn’t quite capture my interest as much, despite the intriguing premise. I felt the plot dragged in some parts. "Descendants of the Sun," however, was fantastic. The blend of romance and action was perfectly balanced, and the setting added a unique twist. As for "Faith," I appreciate the historical fantasy genre, but it’s not high on my list. I tend to prefer more grounded, realistic dramas. Still, it’s great to see these classics being recommended. They definitely offer a variety of genres for different tastes.

"SKY Castle" and "Descendants of the Sun" on your list brought back some great memories. "SKY Castle" was a wild ride; the lengths the characters went to were shocking but made for such compelling television. "Descendants of the Sun" was beautifully shot and had a powerful love story at its core. I still hum the OST sometimes. "Legend of the Blue Sea" was magical and whimsical, perfect for when you want to escape reality. "Faith" was one of the earlier historical dramas I watched, and it has a special place in my heart for blending modern and historical elements. These shows remind me of why I fell in love with K-dramas in the first place.

I live for romance in K-dramas, and "Legend of the Blue Sea" and "Descendants of the Sun" delivered beautifully. The chemistry in "Legend of the Blue Sea" was magical, and I loved the way the past and present storylines intertwined. "Descendants of the Sun" had such a heartfelt love story amidst the chaos of a war zone, making every romantic moment feel precious. "SKY Castle" seems like it has a lot of drama, which is great, but I need to be in the right mood for that kind of intensity. "Faith" sounds like a dreamy romance with its time-travel element, and I can’t wait to watch it. Thanks for sharing these recommendations; they’re perfect for a hopeless romantic like me!

"Descendants of the Sun" was a thrill ride from start to finish. The action sequences were top-notch, and I loved how the show balanced intense military operations with a beautiful love story. Song Joong-Ki’s portrayal of a Special Forces officer was spot-on, and the chemistry with Song Hye-Kyo was undeniable. It’s one of those dramas that keep you on the edge of your seat but also tug at your heartstrings. "Faith" seems like it has a great mix of action and historical drama, which is right up my alley. I’m definitely planning to watch it next, especially with Lee Min-Ho in the lead.

I don't watch many fantasy Kdramas. If I were a newbie I would start with “Alchemy of Souls” and work backwards.

I am a sucker for a love story set against the backdrop of war. When you think about it, in war, you could die any minute. Falling in love is one of the greatest joys in this world. Don't miss out on that joy because you're trying to survive. Love gives you the motivation to survive.

SKY Castle is like the “model” for all of the other Kdramas that deal with this type of storyline. No doubt, the other scriptwriters feel like they have to measure up.
