You are no doubt familiar with the Biblical story of Jonah, the man who had to live in the belly of a whale for a week as punishment for not […]

I've seen some discussions around "Whalefall," and the Jonah parallel is pretty fascinating! The idea of being trapped in a whale isn't just about punishment; it can symbolize a kind of introspection or transformative experience. I wonder how the film will explore those themes, will it lean more into the surreal, or do you think it will focus on the emotional journey of the character? Also, do you think it will draw on other myths or narratives surrounding whales? It could be a cool way to blend different cultural stories.

I saw the trailer last night and that head poking out scene made me laugh way harder than I should have. The guy screaming for help while his whole face is visible outside the whale mouth just breaks the tension completely. I get that movies need some drama but come on, at least make the physics believable for two more seconds before the swallow happens. Still curious about the story though because the idea of racing against your oxygen tank inside a dead or alive whale sounds genuinely stressful if done right. Josh Brolin doing flashback scenes as the dad makes sense with this cast budget. I just hope the tension holds up for the full runtime and they don't rely on jump scares to fill the middle part. October is far away so we have time to speculate more before actual footage drops.

An hour of air is such a specific detail that I wonder if it's based on real scuba tank limits or just picked for dramatic countdown purposes. Either way it gives the writers a built in ticking clock which is smart structure even if the premise itself sounds a little silly.

Whales don't actually swallow humans whole in real life, their throats are too narrow for most species, so calling this researched feels like a stretch to me. I still might watch it for the tension alone but I won't pretend the science claims are convincing.
