Seems Like Now's The Time To Get A Switch 2

It’s interesting to see how price changes are affecting the perception of the Switch 2, especially so close to its launch. $449 already felt like a steep entry point, considering the competition and the library of games available. It does make me wonder about the launch titles. If Nintendo can deliver immersive experiences that take full advantage of the new hardware, it might justify that higher price.

I’m particularly curious about how they'll evolve games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild or even Metroid Prime. Those titles thrived on the original Switch’s unique capabilities. Do you think we’ll see a strong launch lineup that can make the higher price point more palatable?

I was already thinking about getting a Switch 2 later this year, but this price increase kind of pushed me to stop waiting. Going from $449 to $499 is not a small jump, especially when games are already expensive. The new bundle actually sounds decent though. I would probably pick Pokémon Pokopia because I already played too much Mario Kart. Nintendo knows exactly what they’re doing with these limited bundles. They want people to rush before September. I still think it’s funny how every company said they cared about affordable gaming and then raised prices anyway. At least Nintendo gave people a warning first instead of just changing it overnight. If the rumors about more big games in 2026 are true, I can see the Switch 2 staying hard to ignore for a long time.

I still have not bought the Switch 2 because I wanted to wait for more games, but now I feel like waiting is just going to cost more money. I learned that lesson with the PS5 because I kept waiting for sales and somehow everything became more expensive instead. The Donkey Kong game being included is actually tempting me more than Mario Kart. That game looked way better than I expected when they first showed it. Nintendo always does this thing where a game looks simple at first and then everybody ends up loving it a month later.

Four million in one month is crazy for a new Pokémon spinoff. I bought it because I was bored and honestly ended up liking it more than Scarlet and Violet. If Nintendo puts that in a bundle, a lot of casual players are probably going to choose it. Mario Kart already sold itself. Pokémon fans will carry Pokopia hard.

Honestly I feel bad for parents more than anyone else. Gaming prices are getting ridiculous now. A Switch 2, an extra controller, online membership, and two games can easily go over $700. Companies keep acting like this is normal. Kids are lucky if their parents can still afford this stuff every generation. Nintendo at least adding a game to the bundle helps a little, but these prices are still rough.

I already got the Mario Kart bundle at launch and now I’m laughing because people called me crazy for spending that much. Turns out I accidentally saved money. I knew Nintendo would eventually raise the price because everything else in gaming already went up. I just didn’t think it would happen this fast. If they really announce an Ocarina of Time remake later, the internet is going to lose its mind.

The funniest part is Nintendo pretending the bundle is some generous gift when they know the console price increase is coming right after. It is smart business though. I can already see stores selling out during summer because nobody wants to pay the extra fifty dollars later. I still think the Switch 2 launch lineup was weaker than people admit, but it’s definitely getting stronger now.
