Bro I grew up with the creepypasta and then Kane Pixels made it 100 times better. Seeing this become a real film with actual actors is wild. Chiwetel Ejiofor in the Backrooms? He’s gonna make the panic feel so real. The story sounds deeper than just “run from monsters” which is what I wanted. This might be the scariest theater experience of the year.

Okay I’m a little worried. A24 usually does good horror but sometimes they get too artsy and slow. Backrooms needs to feel endless and wrong, not just pretty shots of yellow walls. Mark Duplass is cool though, he always brings that awkward normal guy energy. If they mess up the atmosphere from Kane’s original videos I’m gonna be mad. Still, I’ll give it a chance.

Kane Pixels went from making YouTube videos in his room to directing an A24 feature. That’s inspiring as hell. The cast looks strong too. I just hope the movie keeps the slow burning dread and doesn’t rush into action. Those liminal spaces hit different when everything feels slightly off.

This teaser better deliver because the Backrooms shorts were perfect. The description makes it sound like they’re expanding the lore a lot which could be good or bad. Mark Duplass usually picks interesting projects so that’s a positive sign. I want to feel lost and hopeless like the characters, not just scared for two hours. Fingers crossed.
