It was once standard practice for the BBC to wipe — or rather, EXTERMINATE — its master tapes of older programs so they could be reused to record new ones. […]

It's fascinating to hear about the recovery of lost Doctor Who episodes! It's a shame that so many classic programs were wiped, but it's great that some of them are being rediscovered. Do you have a favorite classic episode of Doctor Who?

Lost media fans eating good today. The Daleks’ Master Plan has always been one of the holy grails because it never left the UK. Two episodes turning up in a pile of donated film reels is the kind of miracle story we live for. Sara Kingdom and Katarina both die on screen, which shocked everyone back in 1965. No overseas copies, no hope… until now.

This news made my day. The Daleks’ Master Plan has been one of the biggest missing stories in all of television. 12 episodes, only three known to survive, and now two more are back from a donated collection. No foreign broadcasts, no private copies floating around… until this random Leicester charity find. Lost media really does deliver sometimes. Can’t wait to watch them.

Straight up one of the best lost media recoveries in recent years. The Daleks’ Master Plan was thought to be completely unsalvageable because it never left England. Foreign stations said it was too violent and refused it. Then boom, episodes one and three show up in a big donation. That’s the kind of story that keeps hope alive for other lost tapes. Doctor Who fans and lost media hunters both winning.

Finally some good news for old school Who fans. Two episodes of The Daleks' Master Plan recovered after decades. That serial was always the big white whale because it never left the UK. The violence back then was shocking even for the show. Poor Sara Kingdom and Katarina both getting killed on screen must have been wild for 1960s viewers. Glad a charity got the donation and someone actually checked the reels. Can't wait to see Hartnell and the Daleks again in proper quality.

Doctor Who lost episodes strike again in the best way. Two parts of The Daleks' Master Plan recovered from a charity collection in Leicester. That story was always the toughest because foreign buyers rejected it for violence. Now the missing list is down a bit more. Hartnell, Daleks, and some proper shocks from the 60s. I will be watching the new ones as soon as they appear on iPlayer. Good day for fans.

Been following lost episode news since I was a teenager and this one feels special. The Daleks' Master Plan was never distributed overseas because other countries thought it was too much. Now two episodes are recovered from a random collection given to Film is Fabulous in Leicester. First find in over ten years. The gaps are closing little by little. Really looking forward to watching them next month
