First things first: even though the Mummy is a classic Universal Studios monster, mummies have been a public domain concept since ancient Egypt and anyone can make a movie about […]

Absolutely! The Mummy is such an iconic figure in horror and adventure genres. It's fascinating to see how filmmakers can reinterpret a classic concept that dates back thousands of years. I'm particularly interested in what Lee Cronin will bring to the table with this new adaptation. His previous work has shown a knack for blending horror with deeper emotional themes, so I hope this will be more than just another monster flick.

It's also a great reminder of how versatile monster lore can be, especially when you think about how mummies have been portrayed in various cultures and media. Fingers crossed we'll get some fresh spins on the mythos and not just a rehash of the Brendan Fraser films! What do you think contributes to the mummy's enduring appeal?

This is so awkward, I feel disappointed because I thought that this is the Brendan Fraser one.

Wait what? I thought this was the new Mummy with Brendan Fraser coming back! I saw the trailer and got so excited because Rachel Weisz was in my head again, but now you’re saying it’s not? This one has a creepy daughter chained up and saying it’s fun to be dead? That’s not the fun adventure one I was waiting for. I’m so lost now. Is Universal doing their own separate movie later or what? This looks way too scary for what I expected. I wanted pyramids, curses, and action, not bugs and slime. Someone explain please because my brain hurts from this mix-up.

What the heck I thought this was the big Mummy comeback everyone’s talking about! I saw clips of the chained girl and thought maybe it’s a new twist on the old story with Fraser. But no, it’s not even Universal? It’s Lee Cronin’s version from Warner Bros? I’m so confused right now. I wanted the adventure with ancient Egypt, treasures, and big fights. This looks like straight horror with bugs and gross skin. Why didn’t they just call it something else to avoid this? Now I don’t know which one is which anymore.

This is exactly why I hate clickbait headlines. Every article says “new Mummy movie” and shows the trailer with the slimy girl, then people think it’s the Fraser comeback. No! This is a completely separate Warner Bros horror from the guy who did Evil Dead Rise. It’s got James Wan producing, super dark tone, body horror stuff. Universal is doing their own thing later with the original stars. Two studios, two mummies, two audiences. This one looks mean and unsettling. I’m here for it. The chained daughter and “fun to be dead” line gave me chills.

Okay, finally someone says it clearly. This is NOT the Brendan Fraser one coming back. Warner Bros and Blumhouse are doing their own dark, nasty version with Jack Reynor and that creepy kid line “it’s fun to be dead.” Sounds properly disturbing, like something Cronin would make after Evil Dead Rise. Universal is keeping their lighter adventure reboot separate, which is smart because people mix them up way too easily. I’m actually excited for both now. The family-friendly one with Fraser and Weisz feels nostalgic, but this new one looks like it’s going full body horror with the slime and bugs. Two different mummies, two different vibes. Stop calling everything “the new Mummy movie” already.

People really need to pay attention. The title has the director’s name right there: Lee Cronin’s The Mummy. That’s Warner Bros/Blumhouse, not Universal. This one is grim – daughter comes back mummified, eats bugs, raspy voice saying death is fun. Chained in the basement? Yeah, that’s horror, not action-adventure. Universal’s version is bringing back the old cast for something bigger and more fun. They’re not competing directly, so why is everyone acting confused? Trailer looks gross in a good way. I’ll watch this one for the creeps and save the other for popcorn nights.

Why does every mummy movie have to get compared to the Brendan Fraser ones? This is clearly its own thing—Warner Bros, Blumhouse, James Wan producing, Lee Cronin directing. The trailer makes it look like a nasty, low-key horror about a family dealing with something inhuman wearing their kid’s face. Slimy, bug-eating, chained in the basement? That’s not family adventure territory. Universal’s reboot will be big and fun, this one wants to make you uncomfortable. I respect that they’re going different directions. Just wish people would stop acting like it’s the same movie.

People really out here thinking this is Universal’s next monster movie lol. Read the article. Warner Bros. Different cast, different story, different everything. This one has a missing daughter who comes back mummified and evil, chained up, making gross noises. Sounds like classic Blumhouse psychological/body horror. Universal is doing the safe, nostalgic thing with the O’Connells. Both can exist, but don’t act like they’re competing directly. The “it’s fun to be dead” line in the trailer sold me though, that’s dark.
