Compared to last month, what Crunchyroll is introducing to the physical media market is a much smaller amount of titles — but naturally, all the big guns are saved for the holiday season. January isn’t a month typically reserved for big releases (except the late ones). But still, there ARE things coming to the shelves that are of interest. The biggest release this month is the massive Assassination Classroom – The Complete Series – Limited Edition that’s being offered exclusively through the Crunchyroll Store. An octopus creature has come to Earth with one mission: to destroy it. But it’s a very NICE octopus creature who feels generous enough to give humanity a chance to destroy HIM first. That chance belongs to the students of Classroom 3-A. who spend their school year trying to figure out this guy’s weaknesses. Assassination Classroom – The Complete Series is a stuffed box filled with the following extras: 3 Art Cards Interview With the Dub Cast Episode Commentaries Top 10 Moments The Many Faces of Koro Sensei Episode 0 “Meeting Time” Textless Opening and Ending Songs Episode Previews Trailers Movie Video Commentary Promo Videos Right now the collection is on sale for $71 at the […]

Whoa,I didn’t expect the One Piece release to be mentioned here, but I’m glad it’s almost at episode 1000. I’ve been watching One Piece since before 900, so getting episodes 977-988 on Blu-ray is convenient. I’m not into Assassination Classroom enough to buy it, but I can see why fans would want it with all the extras. BLUE LOCK is probably my pick this month because sports anime always hooks me. Crunchyroll seems to balance older hits with newer titles well. Even though January is quiet, the sets they put out are enough for people who are loyal fans. I feel like owning these Blu-rays gives a kind of permanence that streaming just can’t match.

I like collecting anime on Blu-ray, and this January batch is solid for me. Assassination Classroom with all the extras is a big yes. I like seeing the behind-the-scenes stuff and interviews—it makes me feel like I’m part of the process. BLUE LOCK Season 2 is also interesting because the first season was fast-paced and fun. Headhunted to Another World is a maybe, but not my priority. One Piece is always on my radar, but I like to wait for larger sets. Crunchyroll does a good job catering to collectors, and I feel like even a slow month like this one has worthwhile releases. It’s not huge, but the quality of the content matters more than the quantity.

Headhunted to Another World sounds hilarious and perfect for a casual watch. I love the idea of a salaryman suddenly becoming part of a bigger corporate world in another universe. I haven’t started the show yet, but I think getting the complete season on Blu-ray is convenient because I can watch all episodes in order. Sometimes streaming platforms make it hard to remember where I left off, so owning the full set helps. I hope they included some extra content too, like commentary or behind-the-scenes. It feels like a funny, light-hearted series that I could play in the background or use to unwind after work. The premise is simple, but it seems entertaining enough to justify picking up the set. I might even rewatch it with friends to see their reactions.

I feel like the Assassination Classroom set is worth every penny. I’ve watched the series multiple times, but having a physical set with episode commentaries, interviews, and all the little extras makes it feel like a new experience. I love Koro Sensei’s personality, and seeing all his faces together in one collection is going to be great. The price isn’t bad either considering what’s included. Sometimes I think about just streaming shows, but owning physical copies feels special, like a trophy for shows I love. I’ve also noticed that having these sets helps me introduce series to friends more easily because they can just pick up the disc. I like the idea of revisiting the series years from now without needing a subscription. It’s a smart buy for any fan.

BLUE LOCK season 2 is really growing on me, so I’m excited for the Blu-ray. Sports anime like this benefits a lot from physical releases because the animation looks sharper and smoother. Watching online is fine, but nothing beats seeing intense soccer matches on Blu-ray. I’m curious if there will be extras like interviews with the voice actors or behind-the-scenes clips. That would make it feel more complete. I don’t usually buy sports anime sets, but this one is special enough to consider. I plan to use it as a way to relive my favorite matches and maybe show friends who missed the season. It’s satisfying to finally have a proper copy rather than relying on streaming.
