Stranger Things Returns To Dead By Daylight With New Characters

The asymmetrical multiplayer survival horror game Dead By Daylight gained a Stranger Things map in 2019. Hawkins National Laboratory served as the backdrop for a faceoff between one player as the Killer, a Demogorgon, and two others as the Survivors, Nancy Wheeler and Steve Harrington. Unfortunately Netflix would pull the license, characters and area from the game a couple years later, in a misguided attempt to hoard their IPs with plans to launch their own gaming service. While that service exists now, its massive ambitions have been toned down quite a bit. It’s mostly mindless mobile games and while a couple can be played with a TV remote, most only worn on your phone. Hoarding the Stranger Things IP was a dumb idea and it’s mostly been reversed (though Stranger Things 3: The Game has yet to resurface anywhere and physical copies are expensive). So not only have Nancy, Steve and the Demo been restored to Dead By Daylight, they’ve been joined by some others. Currently in Steam beta, you can play as Season 5 Eleven and Season 5 Dustin, or you can stalk them both as new Killer Vecna. Behaviour Interactive hasn’t defined what the Survivors’ abilities are, though […]

Seeing Stranger Things back in Dead By Daylight makes me feel like the game actually cares about its fans. I’m especially excited to play as Eleven. I’m curious how her powers will feel compared to other survivors because controlling abilities in this game is tricky but fun. Also, Vecna as a killer sounds terrifying, but I wonder if he will actually live up to the hype. The grandfather clocks mechanic seems interesting though, and I like that there’s more than just running around. I think it will add strategy. It’s kind of disappointing that some of the Netflix stuff is still locked away, like Stranger Things 3: The Game, but at least this is something. I’m planning to try both Eleven and Dustin first and see if I can survive as much as possible. The beta testers have the first taste, but I can’t wait until January 27.

Playing as Dustin or even reskinned as Eddie Munson sounds so fun. The way Vecna uses vines and pops up from the floor actually seems creative and gives him a presence beyond what the show did. I think the grandfather clock mechanic is clever because it makes the map interactive and not just a running-around zone. I also appreciate that Behaviour Interactive didn’t just recycle old abilities; it feels like they’re trying to match each character’s personality. I know some people will complain that Netflix didn’t handle their IP well, but the fact that fans get to experience this again is good enough for me. I’ll probably spend hours trying to play as both killers and survivors just to see how balanced it feels.

I’m honestly more interested in the killers than the survivors this time. Vecna seems way scarier than anything in the last season, at least for the game. I like that he can control the environment with vines and hide under the floor; that is exactly the kind of mechanic that can make playing a killer fun and tense. I’m curious if he will be overpowered or if there’s a good counter-strategy with those grandfather clocks. Also, I love that Dustin can be Eddie Munson because that gives players more personalization options. I’m excited to see how people use the reskins creatively, and I hope the beta feedback will make his abilities balanced. I feel like this update could bring a lot of new energy to Dead By Daylight.

I never thought I’d be happy Netflix made bad choices. The way they tried to hoard Stranger Things just hurt the game community for years. Finally, bringing back the map, characters, and adding more survivors and a new killer makes Dead By Daylight feel complete again. I like that Season 5 characters are included because it keeps it current and adds variety. I will probably play a lot of Eleven because she’s my favorite, and I can’t wait to see how her powers feel in a tense chase. Vecna looks menacing, and I hope he actually gives me trouble when I play against him. The grandfather clock mechanic makes sense for the game and adds strategy, which I really enjoy.

I feel like Vecna might be easier to defeat than he looks in the trailer, but it depends on the player. Dead By Daylight often makes killers feel threatening visually but then easy if someone knows the map. I like that there’s a clear mechanic with the grandfather clocks, though, because it gives survivors a fighting chance. I’m also curious how Season 5 Eleven and Dustin play, especially since Eleven’s powers seem obvious but could be tricky to manage. I hope the abilities are well balanced so playing as either side feels fair. I think this update will bring back old players who left after Netflix pulled the license, and new players might find it fun as well.

I mostly play Dead By Daylight casually, but this update makes me want to get serious. Vecna seems like a really smart addition because he’s not just another generic killer; he interacts with the environment, which is something I enjoy. I’m also glad they added Season 5 characters because it shows they’re keeping the game updated with new content. I think survivors’ abilities will be fun to figure out, and I like that there’s strategy involved with the clocks. I’ll probably spend a lot of time trying both sides just to see how balanced the gameplay feels. Overall, it makes the game more interesting.

. Vecna sounds terrifying and I like that the game isn’t just reusing old mechanics. The whole Upside Down interacting with the map is exactly the kind of twist that keeps matches interesting. Eleven and Dustin being playable is awesome because it means the story feels complete without the show running anymore. Legendary outfits are a nice bonus, but I’m more interested in learning their abilities and how they affect gameplay. I’ll probably spend my first matches testing different Survivors and seeing which strategies work against Vecna. It feels like the game is really trying to blend Stranger Things with DBD instead of just slapping characters into it.

I’m really looking forward to seeing how Vecna changes the usual Dead by Daylight gameplay. The vines and map manipulations sound like they’ll make matches more unpredictable and intense. I like that Eleven, Dustin, Steve, and Nancy are included because each brings a unique skill set that can be used strategically. The legendary outfits are cool too, even if they don’t affect abilities, because it makes the game feel more connected to the show. I plan to try both sides, Killer and Survivor, to see how different it feels. It seems like this chapter might finally mix the story elements of Stranger Things with gameplay mechanics in a meaningful way. From the trailer, the visuals look great, and I think fans of the show and game will both enjoy exploring Hawkins again.

I wasn’t expecting to be excited for a Stranger Things crossover again, but Chapter 2 looks really good. Vecna as a killer who changes the map is exactly the kind of upgrade the first chapter needed. Eleven and Dustin being Survivors is great because their skills match what they do in the show, which makes it feel authentic. Adding Steve and Nancy is smart, too. I like that they included legendary outfits for Jonathan and the new characters; it gives players goals beyond just winning matches. I’m planning to focus on Survivors first to see how Eleven’s powers can help with objectives. It feels like this chapter is much more polished and offers more strategy than the previous one, which is exciting for both fans of the show and new players.
