The main My Hero Academia storyline may be wrapping up, but the Vigilantes are still at it. The premiere date for the second season of the spinoff My Hero Academia Vigilantes was announced today — it’ll be here with the new year. Vigilantes follows Koichi Haimawari, gifted with the ability to glide quickly across any flat surface, like an ice skater. Koichi has similar dreams to Deku’s of becoming a superhero….but HIS problem is, he can’t get into the academy to obtain an official license. The city doesn’t let you commit heroism without approval! Well, maybe what they don’t know won’t hurt them. One fateful afternoon Koichi meets Knuckleduster, an off-the-record Super who introduces him to the ways of the Vigilantes — those who are not regulated yet go around superheroing anyway. Knuckleduster, his friend Kazuho Haneyema, and Koichi form a new team of underground heroes defending the city from fearsome threats. My Hero Academia Vigilantes Season 2 features the voices of (Japanese / English): Koichi Haimawari a.k.a. The Crawler voiced by Shuichiro Umeda / Jack Broadbent Kazuho Haneyama a.k.a. Pop☆Step voiced by Ikumi Hasegawa / Macy Anne Johnson Knuckleduster voiced by Yasuhiro Mamiya / Jason Marnocha Christopher Skyline a.k.a. Captain Celebrity voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa / Sean Schemmel Makoto Tsukauchi voiced […]

Seeing Pop Step on the cast list reminds me how much fun her scenes were. She balances the team with her cheerful energy, and her chemistry with Koichi feels natural. Her story had some tough moments in the manga, so I am curious how far the anime will go. The early-year release is nice since there are not many shows I follow during that time.

Heroes who operate outside the system have always been interesting to me. The main series focuses a lot on rules and rankings, so Vigilantes gives a different angle. Knuckleduster and Koichi working in the shadows makes the world feel bigger.

Manga readers have been waiting for this part of the story to be animated, so it is nice that the adaptation continues. Some upcoming arcs mix character growth with more serious conflicts, which creates good balance. Curious to see how the studio handles those scenes, especially the emotional ones.

I am really glad they finally gave a date for Season 2. I liked the first season because it focused on Koichi in a simple and grounded way. He is not the strongest character, but he works hard, and that makes him interesting. I also enjoy Knuckleduster because he feels different from the usual pro heroes. He is rough, but he still cares. I want to see how the team grows this season. I also want to see if Koichi becomes more confident with his abilities

I like Vigilantes more than the main My Hero Academia story because the characters feel more relatable. Koichi struggling to enter the academy feels more realistic. Not everyone is born with a strong quirk or talent. I want to see more moments with Pop Step because her energy gives balance to the darker parts. I hope the animation is better this time. The voice cast looks solid, so that gives me confidence.

I am excited because Captain Celebrity will get more screentime. I always found him funny, even if he is full of himself. His English voice actor fits him well. I hope they explore his relationship with Koichi more because their dynamic can be entertaining. I like watching heroes who are flawed but still try to do something good.

I read the Vigilantes manga before, so I know some of the things they might adapt. I think this season will have more emotional scenes, especially involving Knuckleduster. His past is heavy, but it makes him one of the strongest supporting characters. I hope they handle those moments with care. The cast list looks complete, so they seem ready.

YES! I am more interested in the supporting heroes like Best Jeanist and Edgeshot than Koichi himself. Their designs and quirks are more appealing to me. I hope they get more scenes. I feel the show becomes more fun when pro heroes appear, even if the focus is mostly on the vigilantes.
