What’s Crunchyroll got in store next year? They’re willing to give you one night of hints. Plans are now in the works for Crunchyroll Anime Nights SNEAK PEEK, a one day event where the anime giant will preview episodes of upcoming anime series that no one has seen before. Which ones will appear? Nobody knows. It’s a mystery ticket. Crunchyroll says “This exclusive theatrical experience gives anime fans the chance to see never-before-seen episodes of upcoming anime series before they debut on Crunchyroll in January 2026. All episodes will be in original Japanese with English subtitles.” Crunchyroll Anime Nights Sneak Peek will take place Monday, December 15 at 7 PM in the US and Canada as a part of Crunchyroll’s monthly Anime Nights theatrical program. You can find tickets for sale through this link. Since that news item was so short, we’ve got a bit more. Crunchyroll also sent us a refreshed, up-to-date list of their holiday season Blu-Ray release schedule. The list includes links to the sets where applicable. I am also curious if Crunchyroll will pick titles outside the usual mainstream hits. It would be nice to see something smaller get a moment in theaters. I am not a collector of Blu-rays, but I do notice that the schedule this year feels heavier than usual. Maybe they expect more people to buy physical media again. If the KONOSUBA Season 3 combo has extra features, I might consider trying physical copies for once. I am still deciding if I will go to the theater because the timing is a little tight for me. Still, the event sounds interesting enough that I might make space for it.

I like events like this because they help me discover shows I normally would skip. I do not always follow announcements closely, so a blind preview gives me a chance to form my own opinions. I am curious if they will include any original anime not based on manga or light novels. I tend to enjoy originals more because I cannot predict where they are going. The Blu-ray list also interests me because I collect SteelBooks. The Re:ZERO Director’s Cut SteelBook looks like something I want even if I already watched that version years ago. I appreciate physical media because streaming libraries change too often. Having a show on my shelf feels safer.

These previews often end up shaping the early hype for the winter season. If the episodes shown are strong, the conversation online becomes more energetic. The Blu-ray schedule is also useful. I like to buy one or two series each month, and December has more choices than usual. I think I will buy Demon Slayer’s Hashira Training Arc first because I want to complete my collection. After that, maybe Spice and Wolf Part 2. Having a clear list helps me plan out my spending.

Grabbed my ticket for this already; the mystery box format is genius for building hype. I'm hoping they sneak in something from a studio like MAPPA or Wit, but honestly any surprise episodes from January's slate would be worth the trip. Has anyone else planning to go, and are you thinking it'll be mostly action titles or are they likely to mix in some slice-of-life stuff too?
