Crash Bandicoot Could Finally Be Stepping Into Animation

To us, it feels weird that Crash Bandicoot has never landed his own animated series. The elongated, bipedal marsupial has existed since 1996, and in that time, Sonic has gotten something like 20 TV shows while he’s received bupkus. His time may be finally coming, however. A small blurb from the website What’s On Netflix reveals the streamer is currently pursuing a Crash cartoon and they’ve enlisted Canadian animation studio Wildbrain to help make it. Wildbrain has worked with video game characters before — Sonic especially; the most recent series Sonic Prime was theirs. For Netflix alone, they’ve also created Ninjago: Dragons Rising, Carmen Sandiego, and an unreleased Minecraft series. It’s unknown why Crash can’t seem to land a cartoon…perhaps it’s related to the up-and-down nature of his own career, which started bright with Naughty Dog handling his first few outings, flamed out once the rights spilled to various third party studios, and bounces back on occasion with things like Toys For Bob’s Crash 4 in 2020. A piece of test animation for a proposed 2D Crash cartoon exists and can be found online, but not much is known about that proposal. Crash had a brief brush with animation fame […]

Finally! It feels like Crash Bandicoot has been overdue for his own animated series. The guy’s been around since ‘96, and while other iconic characters like Sonic have had multiple shows, Crash has never really had that moment. Maybe it’s because his franchise has had its ups and downs over the years, but I think now could be the perfect time. The test animation I saw looked promising, and Wildbrain’s track record with shows like Sonic Prime gives me hope they’ll handle this with care. I’m curious to see how they’ll treat his character—will he talk or remain silent? Either way, it’s exciting to think Crash might finally get the animation spotlight he deserves.

It’s about time Crash Bandicoot got his own animated series! Sonic has dominated the TV scene for years, but Crash has mostly been left in the dust. I’m glad to hear Netflix is finally giving him a shot. I wonder if they’ll keep him silent like in the games or actually let him speak this time? Either way, I’m hoping they stay true to the quirky, chaotic energy of the games. Wildbrain seems like a solid choice, especially with their Sonic Prime series. Fingers crossed it turns out as fun as his classic games!

I’ve always wondered why Crash never got an animated series, especially when you think of how many times Sonic has had his own shows. But now it looks like Netflix is finally bringing him to life in a cartoon. I think it’s interesting that Wildbrain is involved, given their success with Sonic Prime and Ninjago. But I have to say, I’m kind of torn about whether Crash should talk or not. He’s been silent for so long, I wonder if giving him a voice will change his dynamic. I’m intrigued to see how they balance it.

I think it’s awesome that Crash Bandicoot is finally getting an animated series. Honestly, I was shocked he didn’t have one already. With Sonic getting multiple TV shows, I thought Crash was right behind. I’m curious about the test animation they mentioned. If they’re sticking to the classic 2D style, that could be a perfect fit for the character. And whether he talks or not, it’s going to be interesting to see how they handle him in this new format. Wildbrain has a good track record with animated shows, so I’m cautiously optimistic.

Crash has been a household name for so long, and I never understood why he never got his own animated series. Sonic’s had what, like 20? Crash is just as iconic in his own right. I’m glad to see Netflix finally giving him a chance, and Wildbrain sounds like a good fit. They’ve done well with Sonic Prime, and I’m curious to see if they’ll let Crash talk or stick to his silent, chaotic persona. Either way, I’m here for it!

I’m excited but also a little skeptical about Crash finally getting an animated show. I mean, he’s been around for decades, but it feels like the franchise has been on a rollercoaster. I loved him in the Skylanders Academy cameos, but I don’t know if hearing him talk in his own series is the right move. He’s always been a bit of a silent character in the games, and changing that could be risky. Still, Wildbrain has experience with Sonic Prime, so they know what they’re doing with these video game characters.

I’ve always wondered why Crash didn’t get his own animated series earlier. Sonic has had so many, and Crash deserved his shot too. But it looks like Netflix is finally making it happen, and I’m here for it. I’m not sure if I want him to talk or not—I think his silence in the games made him special in a way. I do like the idea that they’re giving him a new spin, though. Wildbrain’s experience with Sonic Prime gives me hope that this will be a good series.
