It’s generated 29.9 billion yen, or the US equivalent of $204 million, and has remained #1 for seven consecutive weeks. It is now the third-highest-grossing film of all time in Japan, with only Spirited Away and a previous Demon Slayer film, Mugen Train, beating it. In other words, the gamble to change the adaption from television to theatrical premieres has paid off.
