It’ll be officially summer in a few hours. Crunchyroll has just revealed their entire planned schedule of premieres for the warm months, stretching from next week through late August. Some of the heavy hitters are the second season of Dan Da Dan on July 3 (which has already had a big-screen preview premiere), the second season of Kaiju No 8, the back half of Dr. Stone Science Future, the premieres of Gachiakuta and Nyaight of the Living Cat, and as always, more of One Piece. As for the rest, expect the full array of obscurities that are at times tantalizing, curious, and undeniably weird. There’s a reincarnation anime about someone getting reborn as…a vending machine. And this is its second season. We don’t mean a vending machine that can move on its own or speak freely. Apparently there’s enough material in such a premise to generate over twenty episodes! You can find Crunchyroll’s full list of summer premieres below, along with trailers for each series. I’m really excited for “Dan Da Dan” Season 2. The first season had great pacing and energy. It felt like a mash-up of spirit battles, alien craziness, and awkward teenage moments, but it worked. I like how it’s not too long or too slow, just wild enough to be fun without being confusing. I’m hoping they explore more about Jiji’s situation this time. I don’t mind that the characters are still in high school—it actually makes the stakes feel higher for me. I just hope the animation stays consistent. Science SARU did a good job before, but sometimes their style can be too abstract. Still, I trust them. This might be my favorite show this summer.

Clevatess sounds amazing. A demon lord raising a kid while teaming up with a hero he once killed? That’s a setup I haven’t seen before. I like fantasy anime that tries something different. I hope the tone isn’t too goofy, though. Sometimes anime mixes drama and comedy in strange ways. If they can balance the serious parts with the action and emotion, this could be one of the best shows this year. Lay-duce also did good work before. I’ll give it a few episodes and see how it goes.

Honestly, I don’t understand the vending machine anime. I watched season 1 just to see what the hype was about, and I got bored. The idea of being stuck as an object without movement or real dialogue doesn’t work for me. I need to connect with characters emotionally, and that’s hard when your main character just beeps. It’s okay for jokes, but not enough for a full story. I’m shocked they made a second season.

“Gachiakuta” looks super interesting. I always enjoy anime with darker themes, especially when they involve social commentary. A world where the rich throw away people like trash? That hits hard. If the show can keep the emotional weight and not just focus on cool fights, it could be something really strong. I also like the character designs—they look sharp and detailed. Bones always delivers good visuals.

Rent-a-Girlfriend is still going? I stopped after Season 2. Kazuya just annoyed me too much. He’s always crying or making the worst decisions. I liked Chizuru, but the plot moves so slow. Maybe the Hawaii setting will help change the mood, but I doubt it. I might check episode 1 just to see if anything changes, but I’m not expecting much.

The one I’m most curious about is “Turkey!” I like sports anime that focus on something other than the usual baseball or basketball. Bowling is unique, and the main girl seems passionate. Also, I like how the title is just “Turkey!”—it’s fun and direct. I hope they explain some of the rules, though. I don’t know much about bowling terms like Snake Eyes.

“Necronomico” looks like a mess. Streamers and VR horror? Maybe it’ll find a fanbase, but I’m not into anime with too much digital world stuff. The characters feel like they’re made to sell figures, not tell a story. I could be wrong, but I’ll skip this one. There are too many better shows this season.

“Secrets of the Silent Witch” sounds sweet and relatable. As someone who’s also very shy in public, I like that Monica learned magic just so she wouldn’t have to speak. That’s kind of funny but also sad. If the story focuses on her growing slowly and facing her fears, it could be very emotional. I’m definitely watching this one.

I just want to say “With You and the Rain” made me tear up just from the trailer. The art is soft and beautiful. I like calm, healing anime that focus on everyday feelings instead of big fights. The story of a lonely person finding comfort with a strange animal is simple but powerful. I’ll save this one for days when I feel stressed. Sometimes, anime like this helps the heart more than action ever could.
