“The Light in Your Eyes” (aka “Radiant”) is a 2019 Korean drama series, with 12 episodes, categorized as Romance, Fantasy, Supernatural, and Comedy; streaming on Netflix, Viki, and KOCOWA+. This one is a gem. SUMMARY: A magical gold watch that shines in the sunlight and can turn back time. BEWARE! All that glitters is not gold. Should humans tamper with time? ♦ Turning Back Time is a Blessing or a Curse? In “The Light in Your Eyes”, Kim Hye-Ja was a little girl enjoying a walk on a sandy beach. She looked down and saw something glittering and shining in the sand. When she picked it up, she saw that it was a gold watch. But just then her big brother came and, like all big brothers who pick on their little sisters, he did something annoying to her. He left, and she still had the watch, so she rewound it and … ??? … the same thing happened again. Her brother ran up to her and did the exact same annoying thing. Kim Hye-Ja rewound the watch over and over until she finally figured out that … she could go back in time. Ahah! The next time her brother […]

When I finished this series, I sat quietly for a long time. “The Light in Your Eyes” doesn’t just tell a fantasy story; it explores how people grieve, how they love, and how they face regret. I was especially moved by the transformation of Kim Hye-Ja—not just physically, but emotionally. The aging twist was unexpected, but not done for shock. It forced her to slow down and see life from a new perspective. I think the show asks us if we would still want to change the past if it meant losing who we are in the present. This is something I think about in my own life too. I admire how the drama avoided easy answers. The writing was layered and sincere, and the acting, especially from both actresses playing Hye-Ja, was strong and convincing. It’s not easy to balance humor and pain, but this drama did it. If you're expecting only romance or time-travel tricks, this will surprise you. But if you're ready for something emotional and slow-burning, it’s worth it.

I liked some parts of “The Light in Your Eyes,” but I also had mixed feelings. The idea of the watch and turning back time is interesting, but the pacing was slow in the middle. I felt that some of the side characters weren’t developed enough. I also didn’t connect with the male lead as much as I hoped. However, the aging storyline was very creative. I give credit to the actors—they made everything believable. The ending stayed with me, and I understand why many people rate it so highly. It’s not a perfect drama for me, but it’s one I respect.

What I found impressive was how “The Light in Your Eyes” handled the passage of time not just as a fantasy tool, but as a lens for personal growth. By aging the protagonist overnight, the writers bypassed the common romance tropes and instead focused on identity, grief, and how we relate to others when our circumstances change. The drama doesn’t rely heavily on special effects or plot tricks—it’s more about emotional transformation. I would recommend it to anyone studying how dramas can tell mature, multi-layered stories without losing their heart.

This drama is everything I look for in a K-drama! It made me laugh, cry, and think about my own life choices. I love both actresses who played Kim Hye-Ja. Han Ji-Min is always good, but Kim Hye-Ja gave one of the most touching performances I’ve ever seen. The writing is strong, and the twist with her aging totally surprised me. I didn’t expect the story to go that way, but it made the drama more memorable. Also, I loved the little funny moments. The mix of fantasy and real emotion was perfect for me.
