“Search Out” is a 2020 Korean movie, categorized as Crime, Mystery, Thriller, Suspense, Psychological, Thriller, and Police Procedural; and streaming on KOCOWA+. SUMMARY: Two friends unite with a hacker to find the person responsible for encouraging people to commit suicide. That person is a murderer. It could be more than one. ♦ That’s Too Many Suicides. Aren’t the Police Suspicious? In “Search Out”, Joon-Hyeok has been diligently searching for a job with no success. Meanwhile, he created a profile for himself on social media and named himself “WishGiver”. Basically, if he can, he will grant your wish. One guy had an easy wish. ‘Can you help me move my stuff?’ He just needed some help moving out of his apartment. If only everyone’s wishes were that easy.

Wow, 'Search Out' sounds like a strong film. The idea of someone using social media to influence individuals into committing suicide is disturbing, to say the least. It's alarming how dark social networking sites can be, and the film does an excellent job of exploring this. The psychological manipulation is, in my opinion, the most terrifying feature of the film. It's easy to forget that behind each profile is a person who may be struggling or vulnerable. What’s even worse is that the police seem dismissive at first. It really speaks to how society often fails to take mental health issues seriously until it's too late. The mix of mystery and crime in this movie really has me curious about how it will all unfold, especially when they find out that the killer might still be out there. It’s a really good reminder that people need to be more cautious about what they share online and how easily they can be manipulated.

I was really interested in this movie after reading about it. It seems like a thrilling ride that digs into some dark topics like cybercrime, mental health, and the dangerous effects of social media. The characters, Joon-Hyeok and Sung-Min, seem like they have a good dynamic, but I do think it’s a bit of a stretch for them to take on a murder investigation themselves. You’d think the police would take something like this more seriously. But that’s what makes the movie so gripping, right? It challenges the idea of authority and brings up the question of how much we rely on technology in everyday life. The plot itself sounds really intense, and the mystery of whether the killer truly took their own life or if it’s part of a larger scheme is intriguing. It might not be the most polished film, but I think it’s definitely worth checking out if you're into psychological thrillers.

Ugh, another movie that uses social media to highlight society’s problems. It’s almost like a given these days that any thriller or crime film has to bring up the dangers of the internet. That being said, 'Search Out' does seem like it touches on something real — how the anonymity of online spaces can be used for harm. I find it hard to believe that no one would notice the pattern of suicides, though. Wouldn't it raise red flags? But I guess that’s part of the suspense, right? What bothers me is that the police dismiss it as ‘just another suicide.’ That feels unrealistic. I mean, even in real life, some of these cases would definitely get more attention.

From what I read, 'Search Out' sounds like an intense and rather disturbing movie. The idea of using social media as a tool for manipulation is unsettling. It’s all too easy for people to hide behind screens, and this movie does a good job of showing just how dangerous that can be. I find the idea of a serial killer using social media to prey on people especially frightening. What makes it even worse is that the authorities are portrayed as dismissive of the situation. It really makes you think about how often society overlooks the dangers of the digital world until it’s too late. The characters of Joon-Hyeok, Sung-Min, and Nu-Ri are trying to do the right thing, but it’s clear that their battle isn’t just against a killer, but also against a system that doesn’t care about the victims. If the police are just going to close the case without real answers, I wonder what it says about the current state of justice
