Amazon MGM Studios has a new “One Man Army” revenge thriller coming in about a month, called A Working Man. It stars Jason Statham as, ostensibly, a working man, but as you might expect from a role played by Statham, he’s a lot more than that. Based on the book “Levon’s Trade” by Chuck Dixon, Statham plays Levon Cade, a decorated military black ops merc who has given up that kind of dangerous life for a quiet job as a construction worker. But just when he thought he was out, they PULL him back in when human traffickers kidnap his boss’s daughter. He’ll need to dig up all his old training, skills and senses to bring her back home. Time to become a one-man army, 80s style! This week, MGM sent out a new Red Band trailer full of the kind of violence you’d expect from something like this, along with a set of images that are comparatively tamer. We’ll start with the images, most of which concern Cade in his “working man” persona, though there’s also one pic of him getting hassled by a grizzled-looking David Harbour. There’s also a new clip! We don’t know who “Dutch” is but we trust he’s the big bad guy who’s SO bad that he sits on his own THRONE made of motorbike pipes and skulls, from where he commands his army of toughies to take Levon out. That’s not happening though… In addition to Statham, A Working Man stars Jason Flemyng, Merab Ninidze, Maximilian Osinski, Cokey Falkow, with Michael Peña and David Harbour. Supporting roles include Noemi Gonzalez, Arianna Rivas, Emmett J. Scanlan and Eve Mauro. Statham and Sylvester Stallone serve as producers alongside Chris Long, John Friedberg, David Ayer, Bill Block and Kevin King Templeton. A Working Man will be released in theaters March 28 from Amazon MGM Studios.

Jason Statham back in a one-man army role? Say no more, I’m in. This feels like classic 80s and 90s action with modern polish, which is exactly what I want from a movie like this. The plot may be predictable, but if it delivers brutal fights, intense shootouts, and that signature Statham grit, I’ll be satisfied. Plus, David Ayer directing? That’s a solid combo. Human traffickers getting wrecked by a former black ops merc sounds like a perfect Friday night watch.

I like Statham, but how many times can we see the same “retired tough guy forced back into action” storyline? It’s basically John Wick, Taken, and The Equalizer all over again. Even the title feels generic—A Working Man? Really? I hope the action sequences are creative because the plot seems like something I’ve already watched a dozen times. Maybe David Harbour will add something interesting, but I’m not expecting much.

So this is based on “Levon’s Trade” by Chuck Dixon? That’s interesting. Dixon’s writing has a fast pace and strong action scenes, so if the film keeps that energy, it could be fun. I just hope they don’t water it down too much. The character of Levon Cade is supposed to be more than just a guy who punches people—he’s got depth. Statham’s great at action, but can he bring that depth? We’ll see.

A new David Ayer film with Jason Statham? I’m sold. Ayer knows how to make gritty, hard-hitting action movies, and when he’s working with the right cast, his films hit hard. End of Watch and Fury were incredible, so I hope this leans more in that direction rather than Suicide Squad. Statham’s always a safe bet for action, so this should be a good ride.

I don’t care if this is original or not. I just want to see Statham beating up bad guys in cool ways. Sometimes, you just need a straightforward action flick where the hero wrecks villains, and this looks like it’ll deliver exactly that. Also, a villain with a throne made of motorbike pipes and skulls? That’s so over-the-top, I love it.

Michael Peña being in this caught my eye. He’s usually in comedic roles, so I’m curious to see what he does in a film like this. Also, David Harbour and Statham sharing scenes? That’s got potential. I just hope they aren’t wasted. Action movies tend to focus so much on the lead that the supporting cast barely gets anything to do.

Man, Jason Statham is the only actor who plays the same role every time, and I still eat it up like it’s my favorite meal on repeat. Dude has been "retired but not really retired" in more movies than I can count, and yet, every time, I’m like, “Yep, let’s do this again.” He’s not winning any Oscars for range, but who cares? No one’s watching Statham for Shakespearean monologues—we’re here for bone-crunching punches, growling threats, and that one signature Statham scowl. He’s like an action movie comfort food. A Working Man? More like A Working Statham, and I’ll gladly show up for another round.

Jason Statham started by delivering packages in The Transporter, handled high-risk repairs in The Mechanic, took care of bees and bad guys in The Beekeeper, and now he’s just A Working Man. But let’s be honest—his real job has never changed: wrecking villains, cracking skulls, and looking effortlessly cool while doing it. Some people switch careers, Statham just updates his LinkedIn title. At this point, he’s basically the Johnny Sins of action movies—no matter the profession, you know exactly what he’s about to do.
