Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter – The Meta Journey of a Lifetime Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter is an upcoming TV series under development by Amazon MGM Studios. Taylor Lautner was able to shed the stigma of playing Sharkboy when he landed the role of Jacob Black in The Twilight Saga. Now, in an ironic twist, he must escape the shadow of his most famous role—by hunting werewolves. And the best part? He’s playing himself. Yes, Lautner is going full meta. Following in the footsteps of John Malkovich (Being John Malkovich) and Nicolas Cage (The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent), he’s taking on the ultimate challenge: proving he’s more than just Jacob by leaning into it with reckless abandon. This time, he’s not the werewolf—he’s the guy taking them down. The Premise: Twilight But Make It Personal In this action-comedy-thriller (yes, it’s apparently all three), Lautner plays a heightened version of himself—an actor haunted by his Twilight past, both figuratively and literally. When real werewolves start emerging, society naturally turns to the guy who played one for five movies. The catch? He has no powers, no pack, and absolutely no idea what he’s doing. It’s like if Bruce Willis from […]

Look, I don’t care how many werewolves he hunts—Taylor Lautner will always be Sharkboy to me. He can fight vampires, hunt werewolves, do comedy, action, whatever… but nothing will ever top ‘Dream, Dream, Dream’ from The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl. That’s his real legacy. This show sounds fun, but in my heart, he’s forever the kid with the spiky hair and water powers.

"Twilight." People forget how young he was, and how intense that whole experience must have been. To see him take that past and turn it into something so self-aware? That takes guts. I am really curious how he and the writers will blend the comedy and action. I think the key will be to balance the self-parody with a genuinely engaging storyline. If they can make the werewolf hunting feel real, while still keeping the humor sharp, this could be a major comeback. I am hopeful it will be a hit.

Look, if Taylor Lautner is coming back to fight werewolves, he better be doing it shirtless at least 50% of the time. That’s the rule. You can’t just erase the very thing that made half of us Team Jacob back in the day. I don’t care if he’s playing a ‘serious’ version of himself—if there’s no dramatic, unnecessary shirt removal, then what are we even doing here? Accuracy matters!

I’m so tired of men constantly hating on anything that was popular with women. Twilight was my girlhood, and I won’t apologize for loving it. People act like it was some crime to enjoy a movie about romance and supernatural drama, but no one bats an eye at how obsessed dudes were with Fast & Furious or superhero movies. Let us have our thing! Seeing Taylor Lautner lean into his Twilight legacy like this is actually kind of awesome. Whether the show is good or not, at least it proves that Twilight’s impact isn’t going anywhere.

Well, this is… interesting. I remember when "Twilight" was huge, and honestly, I always thought he was a bit overshadowed. It is true, Robert and Kristen both found their own paths. I am not sure if this is the right way for Taylor to do it. It seems a bit desperate to go so far into self-parody. I hope it works out for him. It is a very risky choice.

I am so excited for this. I always thought Taylor Lautner had more to offer than just "Twilight." The fact that he’s willing to make fun of himself like this shows he has a good sense of humor. I think this could be his big break, the thing that finally lets him step out of Jacob’s shadow. I am ready for it.

I have a feeling this show is going to be a wild card. It could be brilliant, or it could be a complete disaster. There is no middle ground. I think the success of it will depend on the writing. If they can nail the tone, it could be something really special. But if it feels forced, it will fall flat. I am reserving judgment until I see the first episode.

I think this is actually a clever move. Hollywood has a weird way of letting some actors escape their past roles while trapping others. Robert Pattinson got to be Batman, Kristen Stewart got to be Princess Diana, but Lautner always seemed stuck as ‘the Twilight werewolf guy.’ Instead of pretending it never happened, he’s flipping it on its head and making it work for him. If the writing is sharp, this could be a fun mix of action, comedy, and self-parody. But if it leans too hard into Twilight jokes without real substance, it’ll just feel like a gimmick. Either way, it’s an interesting career choice, and I’m curious to see how it plays out

I think this is a genius idea. Taylor Lautner is taking control of his narrative, and he is doing it in a way that is both funny and clever. I think this show has the potential to be a huge hit. I am sure it will be a good show.
