Mai Shiranui Bounces Her Way into Street Fighter 6 Mai Shiranui, the beloved fan-favorite from SNK’s Fatal Fury and King of Fighters series, has officially joined the roster of Street Fighter 6 as DLC, set to release on February 5, 2025. Following in the footsteps of Terry Bogard, who made his own guest appearance in another fighting franchise, Mai’s inclusion marks her as the second non-Capcom guest character in the Street Fighter universe. This is a significant milestone for fans of both fighting game titans. Dubbed the “Original Queen of Fighters” by SNK, Mai’s legacy as the first playable female character in SNK’s fighting games began with her debut in Fatal Fury 2. While she has fought Street Fighter characters before in crossover titles like Capcom vs. SNK and SVC Chaos, this marks her first appearance in a canonical Street Fighter game. Capcom’s been building anticipation for months, teasing Mai’s inclusion with cryptic hints and now delivering a thrilling gameplay trailer that has the community buzzing. This announcement is huge for the lore of fighting games. Mai and Chun-Li squaring off isn’t just a fanservice moment; it’s a clash of two legends who’ve defined their respective franchises. The attention to detail, like Andy Bogard’s cameo, shows Capcom’s respect for SNK’s history. I’m curious to see if they’ll expand her backstory in Street Fighter 6 or add some dialogue that connects her more deeply to the SF universe. This could be the start of something bigger!

With Mai and Terry in Street Fighter and Chun-Li and Ken making their way to Fatal Fury, it’s hard not to feel like Capcom and SNK are building up to something big. I mean, this level of crossover between the two universes hasn’t been this active in years. It feels like a subtle hint—or maybe not so subtle—that Capcom vs. SNK 3 is on the horizon. The groundwork is already there with these guest appearances, and fan demand for a new entry in the series has never gone away. Imagine the possibilities with modern graphics, updated rosters, and refined mechanics. I can practically smell the dream match-ups brewing!

I’ve always wondered—does Mai ever deal with back pain from, you know, carrying all that extra weight up top? I mean, she’s a ninja, constantly flipping, spinning, and executing high-energy moves. It’s impressive how agile she is, but realistically, that kind of physique has to come with some challenges. Maybe she’s mastered some secret Ninpō posture technique to keep everything balanced. Either way, it’s kind of funny to think about how much thought goes into her design while leaving out those practical concerns.

Mai’s inclusion takes me back to the early days of arcade fighting games. I used to main her in Fatal Fury, and seeing her cross over to Street Fighter is a dream I never thought would come true. The custom intro with Chun-Li hits right in the feels—it’s like watching history unfold before my eyes. Capcom nailed her aesthetic, moveset, and even her playful attitude. February 5th can’t come soon enough!

Mai has always been my main in King of Fighters, so I’m beyond hyped to see her in Street Fighter 6! That said, I’m a little nervous about adapting to Capcom’s control scheme. SNK’s four-button layout is so ingrained in me that switching to Capcom’s six-button setup might take some getting used to. I’m wondering how her moves will translate, especially her more technical inputs. Will the muscle memory I’ve built over the years help, or am I going to need to start from scratch? Either way, I’m excited to learn and see how she feels in a completely new system. Here’s hoping I can make the transition and keep her as my main!

Mai Shiranui has been everywhere lately—Fatal Fury, Dead or Alive 6, King of Fighters XV, and now she’s heading to Street Fighter 6 next month on February 5, 2025. She looks amazing in the gameplay trailer! Capcom really did her justice with her classic red outfit and her new biker look from Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. Speaking of that, it’s cool knowing she’ll also be in City of the Wolves when it comes out on April 24.

She’s got such a smooth, flashy style in the trailer, and I love how they kept all her signature moves while adding some new flair. It’s crazy how she just fits into so many games so perfectly. Watching her fight makes me think of the phrase, "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee." She’s always been graceful but hits like a truck. I can’t wait to play as her and see how she feels in Street Fighter 6!

You know, watching Mai’s trailer got me thinking—why hasn’t Andy married her yet? They’ve been together forever, and it’s clear Mai’s completely devoted to him. She’s literally fighting battles and showing off her skills with him cheering her on in the background, yet he’s still holding back. What’s the holdup?

It’s almost become a running joke at this point, but seriously, Andy needs to step up. Mai is confident, strong, and has always been by his side. She’s practically the total package! Maybe he’s just shy, or maybe SNK likes keeping their dynamic this way for storytelling reasons, but I feel like it’s about time they gave fans some closure. Watching them together just makes me root for them more. Come on, Andy, what are you waiting for?

I couldn't help but laugh when Mai broke the fourth wall and told us to "look up here." Like, we all know exactly what she's talking about! Mai's always been cheeky about her looks, but this was next level. It’s hilarious because she totally knows where people’s eyes tend to wander, and she’s fully embracing it. I love how they let her keep that playful attitude—it's part of her charm. Capcom really knows how to keep things lighthearted while still making her a total powerhouse in-game. The wink is almost like she's winking at the fans who’ve been following her for years. Classic Mai!

I’m really hoping Capcom gives us a little fan service and adds Mai’s cow bikini outfit from SNK Heroines into Street Fighter 6 as an alternate costume! It was such a fun and quirky look that gave her a bit of a playful twist, and I’d love to see it make a return. With all the attention to detail they’re putting into her designs, it’d be a nice nod to her history and a cool way to give fans something unexpected. I mean, if they’re giving us her classic outfit and the biker look, why not throw in a bit of SNK Heroines fun too? Plus, it would be hilarious to see her rock that costume in a more serious fighter like SF6!
