“The Emperor: Owner Of The Mask” is a Korean drama series released in 2017, with 40 episodes, categorized as historical fiction, costume and period, Sageuk, Political, Melodrama, and Romance; streaming free on KOCOWA+. SUMMARY: The queen consort finally gave birth to a son. His father, the king, had high hopes his son would be a good and wise king. However, as soon as the child was born someone tried to poison him. The king managed to save his life, but from that day forward, he decided that nobody was allowed to see the face of the prince. The child would always wear a mask. It was the only way to protect him. Can’t see him. Can’t kill him. This was one of those dramas that made me appreciate Sageuk more. The historical setting, the costumes, the struggles—it all felt so real. Sure, the pacing wasn’t perfect, but the characters and story kept me hooked till the end. Definitely recommend it for first-time watchers of historical K-dramas

Honestly, the drama is a bit heavy on the melodrama for me, but I can’t deny it’s got some powerful moments. The political tension was intense, and the water supply angle was such a unique twist. It’s worth it if you’re patient with slower episodes

The show started off really strong, but it felt like it lost momentum halfway through. The mask element got repetitive, and the love triangle didn’t land for me. The actors did a great job, though. I probably wouldn’t rewatch it, but it’s decent for a first viewing

Yes and not to mention it has one my favorite actors, Yoo Seung-Ho. Who doesn't love him? He was a child actor and he has managed to move effortlessly in his teen and adult roles. Not many child actors can boast that accomplishment. (At least not the American ones.)

I am just happy to be able to watch all of the episodes together. Those clips that get uploaded to YouTube make you hungry for me. LOL.
