At this point, we’d have to say The Goonies was probably one of the most influential films of Steven Spielberg’s career, even if it didn’t seem like it would be at the time. He’d certainly made things that were flashier, and got more immediate attention, but this basic adventure about a gang of Coastal youngsters and a pirate ship made a huge cultural impact. Just about every family and children’s film produced in the decades since has borne its influence, and….there have been a lot of decades. Like it or not, this film turns 40 this year. Eeek! But that anniversary means Mike, Chunk, Sloth, Mouth, Brand, Data and everyone else with a weird nickname will be returning to a place they haven’t been in a long time. Yep, The Goonies is coming back to theaters. Multiple times, in fact. WB and Fathom Events are arranging it. The first release will take place January 19 and 20th across the US. I can't believe Ke Huy Quan is now an Oscar and Golden Globe-winning actor! Seeing his journey from playing Data in "The Goonies" to winning major awards for "Everything Everywhere All at Once" is just mind-blowing. It's incredible how "The Goonies" has been influential, yet here's one of its stars making waves in such a profound way decades later. The 40th anniversary screenings are going to be even more special now, knowing one of the young adventurers from that film has achieved such heights in his acting career. It really shows how timeless and impactful that movie was, not just for the genre but for the careers it launched. I'm definitely going to see "The Goonies" in theaters again, this time with a newfound appreciation for its cast

"The Goonies" has always been one of those films you can't help but love. Its return to theaters is a testament to its enduring appeal. I'm looking forward to hearing Leonard Maltin's insights, which will hopefully shed new light on the film's creation and impact. It's not just about reliving the past; it's about celebrating a piece of cinema history that continues to influence storytelling.

Wow, "The Goonies" at 40! I remember watching this with my siblings, and we'd reenact the scenes with our own treasure hunts. This movie sparked so much creativity in us. I'm thrilled they're bringing it back with an introduction by Leonard Maltin; it adds a layer of respect to the film's legacy. I'm planning a little reunion with my siblings to watch it again. It'll be a fun trip down memory lane
