A lot of people regard Jim Henson’s Labyrinth as an untouchable 80s classic and feel it could never be made today. I guess Sony is going to try. According to some outside reports, Sony has hired Robert Eggers, the man behind the recent Nosferatu movie, to look into developing a Labyrinth remake. Since this guy’s bread and butter is the grungy horror genre (he also made The Witch and The Northman), there’s reason to hope he won’t sand the edges down, however, remakes rarely turn out as good as the originals. The original Labyrinth is about Sarah (Jennifer Connelly), who has a new baby brother she hates. She’s been saddled with babysitting him and she hates that too! She despises him so much she wishes the goblins would take him away. Upon saying those words, Jareth The Goblin King whooshes through her window to do just that. Uh, she didn’t mean it? Too late….well, almost too late. To undo her wish, Sarah must find her brother and take him back by entering the world of the goblins and navigating the dangerous, pitfall-laden Labyrinth of the title. OMG! Labyrinth remake?! I can't believe it! I grew up watching that movie with my older sister. David Bowie as the Goblin King? Iconic. Sure, the story might be a bit cheesy, but the costumes and creatures were amazing. Especially Ludo! I wonder who they'll cast for the new version. This could be really cool, especially if they keep the Jim Henson style puppets.

Labyrinth remake for a new generation? That could be fun! My kids haven't seen the original, and it might be a good way to introduce them to Jim Henson's work. Though, I remember some parts being a little intense for younger viewers. Maybe they'll tone it down a bit for the remake. As long as they keep the core message about the power of wishes and sibling love, I'm all for it.

A Labyrinth remake without David Bowie? That seems impossible! His performance as Jareth was unforgettable. The music, the costumes, the whole aesthetic – it all revolved around him. I'm curious to see how they handle this in the remake. Who will they cast? Can they possibly capture the magic of the original? I'm keeping an open mind, but skeptical.

Labyrinth remake with modern CGI? That's a double-edged sword. On one hand, amazing visuals could take the Labyrinth to a whole new level. Imagine seeing the creatures come to life in stunning detail. But on the other hand, will it lose the charm of the original puppets? There's a certain magic to practical effects that CGI can't quite capture. I'm interested to see how they approach it.
