Becoming a parent can be scary some people. For the character of Andy McNeary in the new thriller, LISTEN CAREFULLY, fatherhood is downright terrifying. Writer/Director/Star Ryan Barton-Grimley’s atmospheric horror film was unleashed on the world December 16, 2024. It is now available to put you on edge this holiday season. LISTEN CAREFULLY is a truly unpredictable experience that will have you anxiously anticipating what could possibly happen next. It’s like reliving a bad dream you never had. That’s appropriate since Barton-Grimley attributes a post-baby nightmare as the inspiration for this trippy cinematic journey. Terror Through the Baby Monitor in Listen Carefully The Plot: When troubled assistant bank manager Andy McNeary’s baby daughter goes missing, he must follow the instructions of a mysterious voice on the other end of a baby monitor to save her before she disappears and his life is ruined forever…and that’s not the half of it. What makes LISTEN CAREFULLY engaging from the start is the sense of the unknown. Why is this bespectacled man running through dirty, industrial alleys? Why is he being pursued by a gang of hoodie-clad pursuers in baby masks? The grimy green hue of the cinematography adds to the sense of dread. […]

I haven't watched "Listen Carefully" yet, but I'm really tempted to because it sounds like it delves into the fears of new parenthood. That whole idea of something going wrong when you're alone with your kid for the first time? It's my real-life nightmare. I'll probably watch it soon, but I might need to mentally prepare myself first.

It seems like another indie film trying to be edgy with the horror trope of using a baby monitor. I've seen this setup before, and unless the execution is outstanding, I'm not sure it'll offer me anything new. Maybe I'll check it out if I hear more positive reviews.

The movie was just okay for me. I love horror, but this one didn't scare me enough. The idea was there, but the execution felt a bit off. The whole baby monitor thing? It's been done before. And the ending? Too much of a mind-bender without enough payoff. I wanted more from the antagonist, something to make him truly terrifying. Maybe if I watch it again, it'll grow on me

Just watched "Listen Carefully" for my class project on indie films, and wow, what an experience. The use of color and sound to convey the protagonist's descent into paranoia was masterfully done. It's a perfect study on how to build suspense with limited resources. Ryan Barton-Grimley's multifaceted role in the film also adds a unique layer to the narrative. Highly recommend for anyone studying film or just into indie cinema.
