Here’s a new one from video game music record label GameChops: Zelda & Jazz II, featuring the stylings of jazz group The Deku Trio. Zelda & Jazz I, released earlier this year, was a sizable hit for GameChops and the sequel was put into production quickly. Like the previous album, Zelda & Jazz II transforms many of your favorite Zelda tunes with the influence of lounging bossa nova and coffeehouse jazz. This album contains selections from Majora’s Mask, Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, The Wind Waker, Link’s Awakening, Spirit Tracks, Skyward Sword and A Link to the Past. Album artwork was designed by League of Legends environmental artist Christian Benavides. “The Deku Trio has been a long time dream project of mine,” comments GameChops Executive Producer Chris Davidson. “It’s refreshing to have great recordings of such talented musicians playing live on a project like this. My hope is this album appeals to both fans of chill-out game music and classic jazz.” The Legend of Zelda (Ocarina of Time) Outset Island (The Wind Waker) Mabe Village (Link’s Awakening) Sword Search (Link’s Awakening) Song of Healing (Majora’s Mask) Inside House (series) Astral Observatory (Majora’s Mask) Ballad of the Wind Fish (Link’s Awakening) […] (read full article...)

I grew up playing Zelda games, so seeing these tracks reimagined in jazz feels like a perfect blend of nostalgia and sophistication. That said, I feel like some tracks, especially from Majora's Mask, might lose their eerie charm in this style. I’m curious to hear how they handled Astral Observatory. It’s a bold concept, though, and I’ll definitely give it a listen.

Okay, I’m not a huge Zelda fan, but jazz with a video game twist? That’s so unique! I checked out the first album after hearing people rave about it, and it turned out to be great background music for studying. I’m excited to hear what new tracks they’ve got on this one. Bonus points for including Fi’s Farewell Song—Skyward Sword had some underrated music.

Wow, this album sounds amazing! I’m a sucker for anything with bossa nova beats, and combining that with Zelda is genius. I loved the first album, especially how they turned Outset Island into such a chill jam. Can’t wait to hear their take on Great Sea and Dragon Roost Island—those are my favorite tracks from The Wind Waker.
