What Am I made for?
“Queer” is a film with a storyline that is driven by a semi-autobiographical novel written by William S. Burroughs in the early 1950s but not published until 1985. “Queer” (Rated – R): Officially, following its initial debut at the 2024 Venice Film Festival, Queer will make its bow in US theaters on Wednesday, November 27. STORYLINE: The setting is 1950s Mexico. Daniel Craig plays “William Lee”, an American writer and expat, living in Mexico City, who has serious addictions ~ drugs, alcohol, and sex. He’s a homosexual who familiarizes himself with the underground scenes of Mexico City in order to find casual sex partners. He is at a bar one night and meets a young man named “Eugene Allerton”, played by Drew Starkey. Their relationship goes beyond a casual encounter. Some reviewers have stated that Daniel Craig “upstages Starkey, just a little”. That’s a little bit of an unfair comparison. How can you compare Daniel Craig, the consummate character actor and James Bond to a newbie like Andrew Starkey? RE: The real William S. Burroughs Born Born: February 5, 1914 Died: August 2, 1997 (age 83 years), heart attack He was married twice (to women) and had one son, William […] (read full article...)

It's pretty brave of Daniel Craig to take on such a different role after playing James Bond for so long. He's definitely stepping out of his comfort zone and challenging himself as an actor. It's great to see him taking risks and exploring new territory. I'm curious to see how audiences will react to this more vulnerable and complex portrayal.

I'm a bit conflicted about this. While I’m excited to see a film about a gay character, it's frustrating that another straight actor is taking on the role. There are so many talented gay actors out there who could have brought a unique perspective and authenticity to the character. It feels like Hollywood is still hesitant to cast openly gay actors in leading roles.

It's fascinating to see a film based on the life of William S. Burroughs. He was such a complex and controversial figure. I wonder how the film will handle his darker side, like his drug addiction and his involvement in the death of his wife. I'm curious to see how Daniel Craig will portray him.

Wow, a James Bond gone rogue! I'm intrigued. Daniel Craig is always a great actor, but I'm curious to see him in this darker, more experimental role. I mean, a 1950s drug-fueled, sex-crazed writer? Sign me up! I wonder if it'll be as intense as "No Time to Die" or more of a slow-burn character study. Either way, I'm definitely adding this to my watchlist.

I'm excited to see how Luca Guadagnino handles this material. He's a talented director with a distinctive style. I'm curious to see how he balances the historical accuracy with the cinematic flair. I'm also interested in the cinematography and the soundtrack.

I'm still a bit shocked. James Bond, the ultimate symbol of masculinity and power, playing a gay character? It's a bold move, and I'm curious to see how it'll be received. I wonder if it'll change people's perception of him.I'm excited to see a more nuanced portrayal of male sexuality on screen. Maybe this will help to challenge stereotypes and promote understanding. It's a step in the right direction, I think.

It's crazy that a movie like this is banned in Turkey. It just goes to show how far we still have to go in terms of LGBTQ+ rights and acceptance. Hopefully, attitudes will change, and people will be able to enjoy this film without fear of censorship.

The concept sounds fascinating, but the mixed reviews are a bit concerning. I'm interested in the director's vision and how he's interpreted Burroughs' work. I hope it's a thought-provoking and visually stunning film.

I'm intrigued by the experimental nature of the film. It sounds like a bold and ambitious project that challenges traditional storytelling conventions. I'm particularly curious about how the director has interpreted Burroughs' complex and often disturbing work.I'm also interested in exploring the film's themes of addiction, sexuality, and alienation.
