Lost F-Zero Tracks Come To Nintendo Switch

F-Zero is, we can all agree, one of Nintendo’s more neglected properties, having not seen an official entry in over 20 years. But if you haven’t seen something, it’s new to you: the company is bringing over games and tracks from the series that were previously exclusive to Japan. On October 11 F-Zero: GP Legend will be added to Nintendo Switch Online’s GBA section. It’s much like the other GBA F-Zero game that’s already there, but the difference is it’s based on the anime that was running at the time (yes, F-Zero got an anime, and we DID get it in America). GP Legend received a sequel game, F-Zero Climax, which was never localized. This will be its first US appearance (with Japanese menus). Unlike GP Legend, it contains a course editor which lets you save up to 30 custom tracks. And there’s more: the NSO battle royale game F-Zero 99 has received some updates as well, the biggest news being the inclusion of five tracks that were previously only available on Nintendo’s Super Famicom satellite distribution system, Satellaview. Nintendo almost never shares content from devices that obscure! Here’s the list of everything Nintendo added in this update, which is […]

It's crazy that it's finally getting a western release. And those Satellaview tracks? That's a huge deal. I never thought I'd get to play them. Nintendo's been on a roll lately. Can't wait to dive into all this new content!

This is amazing news. I've been collecting Nintendo memorabilia for years, and these new F-Zero games are definitely going to be added to my collection. I can't wait to play them and relive some of my childhood memories. I remember playing F-Zero on the NES and feeling like I was racing at breakneck speeds. I can't wait to see how the newer games compare.

’ve been waiting so long for Nintendo to show some love to this franchise, and bringing over those Satellaview tracks feels like a gift for the fans who’ve stuck with F-Zero all these years. The addition of the Ace League tracks is an amazing surprise—especially considering how obscure Satellaview content is. I’m also really excited for the course editor in GP Legend. It feels like Nintendo is finally acknowledging that the F-Zero community has been waiting for a way to expand their experience, and it’s about time we got something like this on Switch. Even though these are older games, bringing them to the forefront again is enough to rekindle the hype for me. I really hope this leads to more F-Zero content in the future.

The fact that they’re bringing Satellaview tracks to F-Zero 99 is incredible. Most people outside Japan have never even had the chance to experience those, so it feels like unearthing hidden treasure. Plus, that course editor in GP Legend? That’s the kind of feature that keeps a game alive for years. I’m all about diving into the GBA era, and this is the perfect excuse to do it. It’s great to see Nintendo finally exploring its more obscure content. Now, if they could just do this more often with other retro games!

The best part of this update for me has to be the Ace League content in F-Zero 99. I love pushing myself in racing games, and new tracks mean more chances to challenge myself and climb the leaderboards. The fact that they’re offering practice modes specifically for these new tracks is even better. The one-year anniversary rewards are a nice touch, and I’ll definitely be grinding to get all the new customization options, especially the boost colors and Spin Effects. Honestly, I’m here for the competitive edge this update adds—this will keep me coming back to the game for a long time.
