According to a PWnexus report, WWE plans to transition to licensed mainstream songs for wrestler themes once its agreement with Defrebel expires. Historically, WWE has relied on an in-house composer for most themes. While exceptions have existed, such as licensed songs or indie tracks, the company’s long-term composer has been the norm. WWE’s Netflix deal might provide the financial means to acquire more licensed songs, including both indie and mainstream tracks. Traditionally, WWE has used licensed songs for pay-per-view events but not individual wrestler themes. However, there are exceptions to this trend. A notable example of this shift is SmackDown’s new theme […]

I'm so glad DefRebel is finally out of the picture. Their themes were a total let-down. They lacked originality and creativity, and they just didn't fit the wrestlers' personalities. I'm excited to see what licensed music WWE can bring to the table. I'm hoping for some real classics that will get the crowd pumped up. I think it's a great move for the company. It will help them reach a wider audience and give the wrestlers some more iconic themes.

I'm really excited about the potential for licensed music in WWE. They could get rock music for the Gen X fans, oldies for the Boomers, 90s and early 2000s for Millennials, and modern songs for Gen Z and Alpha. But I hope they don't limit themselves to just mainstream stuff. There are so many great indie bands out there that would make amazing entrance themes. Imagine a wrestler coming out to a killer punk rock song or a catchy indie pop tune. It would be a breath of fresh air and could really help them stand out from the crowd.

Let's get some real creative with these theme song suggestions! How about "Baby Shark" for Gunther? I bet it would be hilarious to see him stomp to the ring with that catchy tune. Or maybe "Barbie Girl" for Brock Lesnar? That would be a sight to see. And don't forget about "Macarena" for Roman Reigns. The crowd would go wild!

Just kidding! But seriously, it would be cool to see WWE experiment with some more unexpected theme songs.

I really hope some wrestlers get to keep their old themes. It would be a shame to lose iconic songs like "Worlds Apart" for Sami Zayn or "The Rising Sun" for Shinsuke Nakamura. Those songs are so synonymous with the wrestlers themselves. They've become more than just music; they're part of the wrestlers' identities.

Imagine Sami Zayn coming out to a different theme. It wouldn't feel right. The crowd would be confused, and it would take away from the atmosphere. The same goes for Nakamura. His theme is so iconic, and it perfectly captures his character. It's a shame to see WWE lose such valuable assets.

Man, I miss those days when WWE had its own composers. Jimmy Hart and Jim Johnston created some iconic themes that really defined the era. It’s a shame they’re not around anymore. I feel like the newer themes just don’t have the same impact.

I'm surprised Wendy Richter used "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" as her theme song! It's a classic! I never thought I'd hear it in a wrestling ring. It's weird to think of it in that context.

It's funny how music tastes change. I can't imagine using it today. But it was a good choice for the 80s.

I think it’s cool that WWE is using more mainstream music. It helps the company reach a wider audience. Plus, it’s fun to hear familiar songs in a new context.

Imagine hearing "Like a Prayer" by Madonna or "Karate" by Baby Metal as a wrestler's entrance theme! That would be epic. I could totally see "This is My Town" by Hollywood Undead working for a heel. "Cake" by Melanie Martinez would be a fun and quirky choice. "Show Me How to Live" by Audioslave would be a powerful and intense theme, while "Flowing" by 311 would be a more laid-back and chill vibe.

These songs would definitely bring a unique and fresh perspective to WWE.

I remember when Victoria used "All the Things She Said" by t.A.T.u. on the main roster. It was such a catchy and unique theme. And I also remember her using "All About Us" as Katie Lea Burchill in FCW. That was a great song too.

I hope WWE uses t.A.T.u. songs again for wrestler themes. They're underrated and their music would work really well as entrance themes. Their songs are powerful and energetic, and they have a lot of attitude. It would be cool to see a new wrestler come out to one of their songs.
