Castlevania is the next logical chapter for Dead by Daylight. The franchise, while dormant in recent years, has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity thanks to its Netflix anime adaptations. This, combined with Behaviour Interactive’s proven track record of collaborating with Konami on the Silent Hill chapter, makes a Castlevania crossover a natural fit. Dracula, the iconic antagonist of the series, is the obvious choice for the Killer role. While the character is in the public domain, his Castlevania incarnation is synonymous with the franchise. Using his Universal Studio Monster version would be a licensing headache, and creating an original vampire would be bland as the Castlevania incarnation is much more better than any of his movie versions. As a series that pioneered the Metroidvania genre, a precursor to hack-and-slash games, Castlevania is inherently action-oriented rather than horror-focused. Yet, Dead by Daylight has proven that guest characters need not be strictly from the horror genre. The inclusion of Lara Croft and Dungeons & Dragons characters demonstrates that survival horror can accommodate
