The Doors Of Durin Open Today: Moria Is Out

Today’s the day. Moria, Free League’s long-awaited expansion for their official LOTR RPGs, is now available. The product was hyped through a successful crowdfunding campaign precisely one year ago, but as of now, you don’t need to have pledged to get a copy. Moria is a prequel to The One Ring, set in the years before Balin’s doomed expedition. Free League says it “contains a hoard of Patrons, Landmarks, foes, encounters and treasures that a Loremaster can use to construct their own adventures in Moria – from a single desperate journey in the dark to a grand campaign to retake Durin’s Halls.” There are two versions of Moria now available: one for The One Ring, which runs on Free League’s engine, and one for Lord Of The Rings Roleplaying, the One Ring variant which is 5E compatible. To make them easier to tell apart, the One Ring version of Moria is subtitled Through The Doors Of Durin and the LOTR Roleplaying version is subtitled Shadow of Khazad-dûm. And At The

Moria, here I come! Been waiting for something that fleshes out the Dwarven city more. The "Mansions of the Dwarves" section sounds like my jam. Reclaiming Durin's Halls? Maybe, but honestly, just exploring the ancient Dwarven craftsmanship is enough for me. Those guys were incredible architects.

Ooh, a prequel set before Balin's expedition? That's a cool angle. Moria's history is fascinating, and I love seeing new stories set in Tolkien's world. The "And At The Gates, The Trumpets Rang" section sounds right up my alley. Learning more about the rise and fall of Khazad-dûm is definitely worth checking out.

Finally got my copy of Moria pre-ordered! Now I have all the official LOTR RPG books. Just gotta figure out where it fits on the shelf... maybe next to the core rulebook? Looking forward to adding some Moria-themed adventures to my campaign rotation.
