Imagine a cat so bad he was not only banished to the underworld upon his death, but double-banished once he got there because he was too much trouble even for the leader of THAT place. That’s the opening premise to Crypt Custodian, an upcoming Metroidvania where you’re the afterlife’s new feline janitor — FOREVER! Your main job is to clean the dungeons and ruins scattered around the area, but it’s not as simple as that….some locations require puzzle-solving to get past barriers while other areas have giant monsters who hate you on sight. But it’s not all bad. It turns out janitors are in a position to discover a lot of secrets… As you explore the areas, you’ll meet other ghosts…and other banished members of society. It was Kendra, the Afterlife Guardian, who sentenced you to this life, but it turns out you’re hardly the first of her victims. Maybe you’re not that bad a cat after all, at least compared to her. A new Metroidvania for consoles AND PC? Hold on, gotta check the release date… August 27th! That's perfect timing for my next paycheck. This Crypt Custodian seems like it offers a lot of bang for your buck – exploration, combat, upgrades, and a charming story. Definitely a game to keep an eye on, especially for someone on a budget.

A vast Metroidvania with tons of upgrades and abilities to collect? Crypt Custodian is definitely on my radar now! I love exploring every corner of a game world and finding those hidden secrets.
