As far as Max has fallen since it lopped “HBO” off its name, it still has one bright spot: there’s a section that offers every Studio Ghibli movie on demand. Well, all except one: the brand-new one. The Boy And The Heron is too new to be included, at least until next September. Miyazaki’s latest opened in theaters worldwide last year (in Japan the title was “How Do You Live”). It arrived on 4K Blu-Ray and other home video formats earlier this month — the first time a Ghibli movie had been offered in 4K. But if the streaming debut is what you’ve been waiting for, Max just announced its premiere date for September 6. The movie will be available in both dub and sub, with the dub boasting the voices of Christian Bale, Dave Bautista, Gemma Chan, Willem Dafoe, Karen Fukuhara, Mark Hamill, Robert Pattinson and Florence Pugh. After losing his mother in a hospital fire, young Mahito moves to his family’s estate in the countryside. There, a series

I'm so excited to finally watch The Boy and the Heron! I've been waiting forever for it to come to a streaming service. Studio Ghibli is my absolute favorite, and I have high hopes for this one. I love how Miyazaki always explores deep themes in his movies, and I can't wait to see what he does this time. Plus, that voice cast is insane. I mean, Christian Bale, Robert Pattinson, and Florence Pugh in one movie? It's like a dream come true.

I'm hyped! The Boy and the Heron on Max? Yes, please! I've been wanting to see this since it came out. The animation looks insane, and the story sounds kinda trippy. I hope it's not too scary though. I'm a big baby when it comes to horror stuff. Also, can we talk about that voice cast for a sec? It's like, who doesn't love Christian Bale? This is like his 2nd Gibli movie!

Sweet! More Ghibli on Max. I'm down. I loved Princess Mononoke, so I'm hoping this one is similar. I heard it's a bit darker though, which is cool. I like my movies to be a little edgy. Also, that voice cast is wild. I can't imagine Dave Bautista as a villain in a Ghibli movie.

Oh, dude, I cannot wait to watch The Boy and the Heron again on Max! I saw it in theaters and it was mind-blowing. The visuals were insane, the story was so deep, and the music was just chef's kiss. I mean, don't get me wrong, the original Japanese audio is fire, but I'm really curious to hear how the English dub turned out, especially with that star-studded cast. I'm hoping they did the original justice. Gonna be a whole new experience!
