It’s been a chaotic 2024, but peace is finally within grasp for the world now that the Rooster Fighter is here. Today at SDCC, Viz Media announced a partnership with Adult Swim to produce an anime series based on the manga of the same name. Created by Shu Sakuratani, Rooster Fighter is what it sounds like and isn’t too deep or philosophical beyond that. It’s basically a kaiju story where the good side just happens to be a chicken. Its main character, Keiji, is described as a “cock-about town” mutant rooster with superhuman strength, who must regularly defend his village from gigantic demons. “Guaranteed to elicit deeper laughs than any upcoming comedy anime, Rooster Fighter is bizarre, absurd, and proudly boundary-blurring,” boasts Viz. “Filled with hyperbolic scenes of high action and comedy, this is one mother-clucker who delivers a showstopper.” “Ever since becoming a manga artist, my biggest goal was to have my work adapted into an anime,” says Sakuratani. “So, I can’t tell you how happy I am to
