Superman Is Deader Than The CW In This Superman And Lois Trailer

It’s a pity about Superman And Lois, which started with such promise, yet had to launch at the tail end of The CW’s relevance. Once a joint venture between CBS and Warner Bros, both parties have mostly abandoned the network (though they still own minority stock) and given it to a nationwide affiliate owner who plans to make whatever cheap buck they can on boring stuff. By all rights, Superman And Lois should have only lasted three seasons, yet it’s getting a miraculous fourth one. How’d they pull it off? By shaving the budget to the point that only the actors playing Superman’s family are still on the regular payroll. But we didn’t expect them to go THIS far: they fired Superman! There’s no Superman on this Superman show anymore! He’s DEAD! No kidding, folks….see for yourself. The 90-second trailer for Superman And Lois Season Four, which WB released today, is mostly a dour, shadow-filled gloomfest of Lois and the boys crying and mourning. Supes never shows up at any

It makes a lot of sense, considering the upcoming Superman movie with David Corenswet. Having two live-action Superman series running simultaneously could definitely dilute the impact of both. Plus, the animated series is already covering a different angle, so adding another live-action one to the mix might be overkill. It's a tough business decision, but it seems like a logical move to focus resources on one big-screen Superman and let the TV shows explore other DC characters.

This is just another desperate attempt by The CW to stay relevant. Killing off Superman is a shock tactic, nothing more. I doubt it will actually save the show. They've been on a downward spiral for years now. They should focus on developing new shows instead of ruining existing ones. I'm done with The CW. That merger with discovery is a mistake.

Superman dying? Again? Honestly, I'm starting to lose count. This is just another comic book trope they're recycling. I'm sure he'll be back. The question is, how long will it take? And will they actually stick with the consequences of his death? I'm skeptical. But hey, maybe this will force them to explore some new storylines and character development. I'm curious to see how Lois and the boys cope without him.
