Dungeons & Dragons celebrates its fiftieth birthday this year, an anniversary that was almost scarred by scandal, greed and irate customers. Wizards of the Coast had to walk back plans last year to tighten control on the brand and restrict third-party developers. The new-for-2024 D&D Player’s Handbook arrives in the wake of this — is a half-centennial birthday celebration and a newly revised rulebook enough for people to forgive and forget? Gen Con 2024 is a couple weeks away, and it’s at this event that WOTC will premiere the D&D 2024 Player’s Handbook, with the first-ever copies to go on sale. These editions will be branded with a commemorative “Gen Con 2024” bookplate and only 3,000 will be sold. You’ll be able to find the 2024 Player’s Handbook at Lucas Oil Stadium, Northwest Concourse, in a shared sales area with a promotion for USPS D&D Stamps (if you didn’t know that would be a thing, you do now). The book will only be sold at specific times, on August 1

Woah, D&D is 50? Feels like just yesterday I was rolling dice in my basement with my buddies. This new Player's Handbook sounds snazzy, but I gotta admit, I kinda miss the old-school stuff. Still, might be fun to check out and see what's changed!

A new D&D Player's Handbook? And a Gen Con exclusive? I'm already counting down the days! This is huge news for the D&D community. I can't wait to dive into the new rules and create even more epic characters. I'm definitely going to try and get my hands on one of those limited edition copies. If I have to camp out overnight, so be it! I'm ready to commit. I wonder what kind of new spells and classes they'll introduce. This is going to be amazing!

D&D is 50? That's wild! I've only been playing for a couple of years, but I'm already hooked. A new Player's Handbook is super exciting. I can't wait to see what cool new stuff they've added. Maybe I can convince my DM to start a new campaign with the new rules. I'm not sure about Gen Con though, that sounds like a lot of people. I'll probably just wait for the regular release and order it online.

A new Player's Handbook, huh? I'm interested, but I'm also a bit skeptical. I like the core rules as they are. I don't need a bunch of new options to complicate things. I'm hoping this new book focuses on streamlining gameplay rather than adding more complexity. I'll probably wait for some reviews before I decide to buy it. And $50? That's a pretty steep price. Maybe I can find a PDF or something cheaper.
