Takeda is back! Introduced in Mortal Kombat X, the Kombat Kids – Cassie Cage, Jacqui Briggs, Kung Jin, and Takeda Takahashi – were meant to be the next generation of kombatants. However, their appearance in the 2023 reboot, Mortal Kombat 1, proved to be a significant demotion. Unlike the 3D era characters who received renewed focus in Mortal Kombat 1, the Kombat Kids were relegated to minor roles. In story mode, they were tragically killed off as nameless fighters, leaving their potential largely unexplored. This decision sparked criticism from Kombat Kids fans who felt the characters deserved better treatment. Their haters, however, were happy about it. (I love the Kombat Kids and I mained Cassie.) A single glimmer of hope emerged with Takeda Takahashi’s inclusion as downloadable content (DLC) for Mortal Kombat 1. He is the final DLC character in Kombat Pack 1, following Omniman, Quan Chi, Peacemaker, Ermac, and Homelander. Takeda’s backstory underwent a major revision. Originally Kenshi’s son, he was retconned into his cousin. His ties to the

Whoa! Takeda's finally here? Been waiting ages to try him out! His whips look insane, like Scorpion on steroids. Gotta see those flaming teleport attacks in action too. Maybe I can finally climb the ranked ladder with a new main.

Takeda's Kenshi's cousin now, not son? This reboot of MK1 is definitely shaking things up! Makes sense since Kenshi's younger here, single too. Wonder how this new family dynamic plays into their rivalry with the Yakuza. Guess I gotta dive into those lore videos again to see how it all unfolds.

I'm really hoping for a Kombat Pack 2 announcement for MK1 soon. Takeda's awesome, but I'm hungry for more fighters to master and kombat with! MKX's Kombat Pack 2 was killer, with characters like Mileena returning to wreak havoc. Just imagine the possibilities for MK1! Cyrax and Sektor would be amazing additions, their cybernetic attacks would be insane. Maybe even some brand new faces to learn and play?

Honestly, even if they don't announce anything soon, the hope itself is exciting. Here's to NetherRealm giving us some Kombat Pack 2 news whenever they're ready.

Seeing Takeda back in action for MK1 is awesome, but it comes with a touch of sadness. In MKX, the Kombat Kids were a highlight, particularly the undeniable chemistry between Jacqui and Takeda. Their playful banter and growing affection were heartwarming to watch. With him being older and Jacqui not yet born makes the romance now impossible.

Takeda's finally here in MK1, and let me tell you, I'm hyped! Those whips and flaming attacks look insane. But you know what would make this even better? The rest of the Kombat Kids joining the party in Kombat Pack 2! Imagine Cassie Cage dropping in with her cocky charm and brutal combos. Or Kung Jin rocking his Bojutsu staff and mastery of various fighting styles. I know they have haters but Jackqui and Cassie won a lot of tournaments.

Time to see how Takeda shakes up the MK1 meta. His moveset seems pretty versatile, with zoning options, close-range attacks, and even an anti-air grab. Definitely gonna need to practice against him to learn the matchups. Wonder if he'll be top tier material. Guess we'll find out at Evo!

First impressions? Seems like a solid all-rounder. Got some good pokes for keep-away, some nasty mix-ups with the whips, and that anti-air grab is a game-changer. Definitely gonna be climbing the ranked ladder with Takeda this week, come hang out and see if we can make him work!

Wait, Takeda's Kenshi's cousin now? Talk about a retcon! Makes sense with the whole MK1 reboot thing, but still feels weird. His moveset seems super technical, with zoning options, close-range attacks, and even an anti-air grab. Definitely gonna need to practice against him to learn the matchups. Remember using him all the time in MKX. Glad they brought him back for this new MK1, even if they messed with his story a bit. Hope they kept his teleport punch move, that was my favorite.
