Takeda is back! Introduced in Mortal Kombat X, the Kombat Kids – Cassie Cage, Jacqui Briggs, Kung Jin, and Takeda Takahashi – were meant to be the next generation of kombatants. However, their appearance in the 2023 reboot, Mortal Kombat 1, proved to be a significant demotion. Unlike the 3D era characters who received renewed focus in Mortal Kombat 1, the Kombat Kids were relegated to minor roles. In story mode, they were tragically killed off as nameless fighters, leaving their potential largely unexplored. This decision sparked criticism from Kombat Kids fans who felt the characters deserved better treatment. Their haters, however, were happy about it. (I love the Kombat Kids and I mained Cassie.)
