Kodansha Reveals New Manga Licenses For Spring 2025

Nine months is pretty darn early for a manga licensing announcement — the solicitations we post here from DC and Oni have a distance of just three months — but we suppose it doesn’t hurt to start making shopping plans for the spring of 2025, when all the titles Kodansha announced for US release today will be out. The announcement was made at Anime Expo. There are some significant acquisitions here: a new translation of Magic Knight Rayearth Part 2 Vol. 1 by CLAMP. Codename: Sailor V 1, a Sailor Moon prequel about the early adventures of Minako Aino as the masked hero Sailor V. And new titles from luminaries like Hiro Mashima (Fairy Tail), Tsutomu Nihei (BLAME!, Knights of Sidonia), and Shuzo Oshimi (Blood on the Tracks). Mashima’s new series is called Dead Rock, which is the name of a training school in hell where young demons fight each other in a merciless battle royale, with the prize being Earth itself. Kodansha also made some announcements for titles we’re getting
