Everyone Wants To Kill Awkwafina In Her Next Movie

I think with “Jackpot!”, the Amazon Prime movie revealed today, we’ve found the Peak Awkwafina Premise: the single idea that could generate the most panicked faces and snarky “WHAT was THAT?” comments delivered in a raspy voice. It’s a movie where everybody wants to kill her. Was her last movie THAT bad? (It was “Quiz Lady” for Hulu, and though not many people saw it, it was fine and not worth killing her over.) Actually her character lives in the near future of 2030, where there’s this lottery that makes its winner an instant multibillionaire. There are two ways to win: through buying the winning ticket, or through killing the person who won before sundown. To be honest it’s not far-fetched the Supreme Court would make this legal sometime in the next six years. What’s bizarre is that Awkwafina feels completely unaware that those are the rules. If she didn’t want the slim chance of being hunted like a dog, why did she buy a ticket in the first place?

Weird that in Shang-Chi Simu Liu and Akwafina are bestfriends but in this movie he is the villain and wants to kill her.

The Supreme Court legalizes killing lottery winners? That's some messed up next-level capitalism right there. Movie sounds like fun, but this whole premise has more holes than a cheese grater. How does this lottery even work?

The entire premise of "Jackpot!" hinges on a legalized "kill the winner" lottery? That's a pretty disturbing commentary on wealth inequality and our obsession with money, isn't it? The movie explores these themes or just plays it for laughs? Could be a dark satire with some serious bite, or it could just be a mindless action-comedy. Either way, it's definitely got me intrigued

Its like a love child between The Bodyguard and Purge. Can't wait to see Awkwafina dodging assassins like she's playing a real-life video game. The trailer gives me major "Hunger Games" vibes, but with a comedic twist. John Cena and Simu Liu as her bodyguards? This movie is gonna be epic! Forget the whole "Holding Out for a Hero" thing, they should just use some epic battle music.

John Cena and Awkwafina in a movie together? Did someone spike my protein shake with hallucinogenic kale chips? Because this is a team-up that throws about as many curveballs as a clown college dodgeball tournament. Awkwafina, the queen of deadpan delivery and killer comedic timing, paired with Cena, the former wrestling champ who's been quietly crushing it in funny roles lately? It's like someone took a rom-com script and accidentally tossed it into a blender with a high-octane action movie.

Gross... another Awkwafina movie? Seriously? The woman's whole schtick is getting old faster than a loaf of Wonder Bread left on the counter. "Jackpot!"? Sounds more like "Jackflop!" if you ask me. This whole "lottery where you win by killing the winner" thing? Not exactly the most original concept, and frankly, it sounds a little weak. Like they couldn't come up with a decent plot so they just threw some violence in there.

And honestly, if I was in this movie world, you can bet I'd be throwing my hat in the hunting ring. Not because I want the money (who needs that kind of stress?), but because someone needs to put a stop to this screeching, overhyped comedian. Maybe a little permanent dirt nap will finally give us all a break from her "quirky" characters and nonsensical humor.

John Cena just made Ninja turtles referrences in the trailer. It reminds me he voiced Rocksteady in the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem movie, and then he throws down a classic "Turtle Power"? That's pure nostalgia gold right there! wasn't sure what to expect from Cena as Rocksteady, but knowing he's embracing the character this fully makes me even more hyped for the movie!

Cena's comedic timing is seriously underrated! He cracks me up every time. And Awkwafina? Comedy royalty, no question. Plus, this Simu Liu reunion? This movie is basically a dream team come to life!

Honestly, the plot with the whole "kill-or-be-killed lottery" thing sounds insane, but with this cast, it's guaranteed to be hilarious. They could film them reading the phone book and I'd still be laughing. Although, come to think of it, a scene where they all have to act super serious while desperately trying not to crack up during a dramatic moment? Now that would be gold!

aul Feig directing a movie with Awkwafina? Sign. Me. Up. The man knows how to craft hilarious comedies with strong female leads (Bridesmaids, anyone?), and Awkwafina's comedic timing is impeccable. Sure, the whole "lottery with murder" thing sounds a bit out there, but with Feig at the helm, I have no doubt it'll be a laugh riot. Plus, John Cena and Simu Liu? This cast is fantastic! Honestly, even if the reviews are lukewarm, I'm still watching this. Feig has a knack for taking crazy ideas and turning them into cinematic gold. "Jackpot!" sounds like it could be the perfect blend of action, comedy, and social commentary.
